My heart is broken for my hometown, Asheville, NC

My heart is broken for my hometown, Asheville, NC 💔 We got hit so hard by Hurricane Helene. I’ve never seen anything like it. So much devastation and loss. We are still out of power, internet, and cell service. With no end in sight. It will probably take weeks for our power to come back on. The scariest part was not being able to call and check on loved ones. But I’m so thankful for God’s protection. All my family here is safe and our home withstood the storm with no damage! 🙌🏻 But, we have such a long way to go. I have no idea when I can even get back to work or when things will get slightly back to normal. A couple of weeks ago, I caught little Miss Riley freaking out over a little hummingbird out by the window and I thought it was too cute not to share 😹 I’m so glad I planted these flowers in the flowerbed outside my office window because the hummingbirds love them, and therefore Riley’s new favorite spot is the office! Every morning when I leave for work, she’s sitting on the armchair, waiting for her little hummingbird friends. So precious! 😻

Did you know that you can freeze leftover homemade applesauce in mason jars?! I had some leftover from a few weeks ago when I made it and I didn’t want it to go to waste. So I thought why not freeze it?! And instead of using freezer bags or bulky containers, I thought a mason jar would be perfect. That way it can stand up easy in the freezer and not take up too much room! Just be sure not to fill it all the way full since glass expands in the freezer.
