Y’all know I have been sharing all things Charleston here lately ever since our last trip there. And I hope y’all have been enjoying it as much as I have! So today I figured I would share the best steakhouse in Charleston with you all.
That way if you’re looking for a delicious steak dinner while you’re visiting, I have you covered! And we have tried out a few different steakhouses while we have stayed in Charleston before.
But, honestly nothing compares to this place! It is our go-to when celebrating a special occasion such as a birthday or anniversary. So if you’re wondering what the absolute best steakhouse is in Charleston, keep on reading to find out!
Plus, I will give you all our recommendations of what to order there when you do get a chance to go!
Where Is The Best Steakhouse In Charleston?
Downtown in the middle of King Street you will find one of the best steakhouses in not only Charleston, but probably all of South Carolina as well! Halls Chophouse is hands down our favorite go-to steakhouse.
Especially if we’re celebrating something special. I’m not going to lie to you, it is kinda pricey. So that’s why we reserve these dinners for a special night out. But don’t worry, even though it is pricey, it is totally worth it!
There is nothing more disappointing to spend a bunch of money on a meal that isn’t worth it. And I wouldn’t recommend Hall’s to you guys if it wasn’t. But trust me, it definitely is!
We have also tried Oak Steakhouse when we were down there one time and ultimately left very disappointed. It had nothing on Halls Chophouse!
You may also recongnize the first name of the restaurant because the Hall family owns several other restaurants in town too! Such as High Cotton and Slightly North of Broad (SNOB).
Both of which are located on Charleston’s historic Broad Street. We have been to SNOB before for brunch and it was also really great!
Why Is Halls Chophouse The Best?
I think the main reason we love Halls Chophouse is because they honestly have the best service around. The waitstaff are absolutely incredible and the restaurant itself is the perfect setting for a date night.
It really is our favorite place to celebrate. And if your waiter knows you are celebrating something special, they usually take really great care of you.
Such as free drinks, free desserts, etc. They definitely value their customers and I think that is one of the main reasons why Halls is one of the very best steakhouses around.
āWhat Should I Order at Halls Chophouse?
Okay, now for the fun part. We’ve already decided that Halls is the best steakhouse in Charleston. But what should you order when you go there?
Well, luckily for you I have some suggestions as to what menu item is the best. At least in my humble opinion!
Soups, Salads and Appetizers
If you’re wanting to start off with some appetizers, I would recommend their Oysters Rockefeller or their She Crab Soup, which is to die for. It is so creamy and delicious.
I oftentimes get the She Crab Soup instead of a salad because I love it so much. However, their salads are also incredible too. Another delicious appetizer is their Fried Calamari as well.
And, if you do want to try a salad too, definitely get the Halls Chop Salad! It’s so good and very finely chopped so it’s really easy to eat! Their Caesar Salad is also delicious too.
Steaks
As far as steaks go, I always love to get their filet mignon. You definitely can’t beat a good filet mignon and theirs is really the best.
It’s a great steak because it literally melts like butter when you cut into it! If you’re not a filet person, no worries. They have plenty of other steak options as well.
Such as New York Strip, Prime Rib, Porterhouse, Rib Eye, Etc. We even tried their Bison Filet one time before and it was magnificent as well!
You really can’t beat the quality of beef that they have here. It’s definitely superior to chain restaurants such as Longhorn Steakhouse and places like that. If you’re not in the mood for steak, although, I don’t see how you couldn’t be!
They do have some amazing fresh seafood options as well. I have tried their Crab and Parmesan Encrusted Grouper before too and it was fabulous! But, I definitely think if you like good steaks, that’s what you should go with.
Sides
And as far as sides go, they have an incredible selection. The sides are served family style so it’s enough to split. I recommend their lobster mac and cheese for sure.
That’s probably my favorite side that they offer. Also, the pepper jack creamed corn skillet is incredible as well. I’ve even had their collard greens before and I am not a huge collard greens fan, but it was delicious too!
Really, you can’t go wrong with any side they offer. And to end the evening out, their bread pudding is to die for! You have to try it if you go!

Well, I figured all of the above reasons are enough to verify that Halls is definitely the best steakhouse in the entire business! We always have such a great time when we go there and feel like royalty when dining!
They also have other locations too in Greenville, Nexton, Colombia, and Nashville. So if these areas are closer to you than Charleston, you should definitely check them out! I’m telling you, no matter what location, you will have the best dining experience of your life!
