POV: You survived your first full week back at wor POV: You survived your first full week back at work after endometriosis excision surgery… and this is what recovery really looks like. 😂

I officially made it through my first full week back to work after a month-long surgery leave, and whew… the post-op fatigue is NO joke.

Every evening has looked pretty much the same: clock out, soak my aching body in a scorching hot bath, grab my heating pad, put on my weighted eye mask, and immediately take a cat nap before I can even think about making dinner or doing anything around the house. 😴

I knew recovering from endometriosis excision surgery would take time, but I didn’t expect the exhaustion to hit this hard after returning to work. My body is definitely reminding me that healing isn’t always a straight line.

Right now, this little recovery routine is getting me through:
💛 Hot bath
💛 Heating pad on full blast
💛 Weighted eye mask (shoutout to @nodpodofficial)
💛 Emergency evening nap

Thankfully, it’s finally the weekend, and I can focus on resting and recharging before doing it all over again next week.

If you’ve had endometriosis excision surgery, how long did the fatigue last for you after returning to work? Please tell me this part doesn’t last forever! 😂👇

Whenever I have a bad day at work, I remind myself that I need that paycheck so my cats can stay home all day, nap in peace, eat snacks, and live their best spoiled-cat lives. 😂

This first week back at work has been ROUGH, y’all. I miss being home with my fur babies more than anything. Honestly, I think my true calling in life is being a stay-at-home cat mom. 🐾

But unfortunately, someone has to pay for the treats, toys, fancy food, and all the other necessities required to maintain this luxury cat lifestyle. And that someone is me. 😅

The funniest part? I don’t even think little Miss Riley misses me. As long as the food bowl stays full and the treats keep coming, she’s perfectly content living her best life while I’m out here working my butt off. 🤣

Anyone else with a chronic illness immediately Goo Anyone else with a chronic illness immediately Google every possible side effect before starting a new medication? Because I swear if there’s a rare reaction listed, somehow I’m the lucky winner. 🤣

Being chronically ill means I’ve tried my fair share of medications over the years, and my body always seems to have a mind of its own. If a medicine is supposed to make people sleepy, I’ll be wide awake all night. If there’s a tiny chance of an adverse reaction, somehow I’m usually that tiny percentage. 😅

So starting a new medication is always a little nerve-wracking for me. Part of me is hopeful it’ll finally provide some relief, and the other part is preparing for whatever random side effect my body decides to throw my way.

Here’s hoping this one actually helps my symptoms without adding a whole new list of problems. 🤞😂

Vintage Americana decor has my heart ❤️🤍💙 There’s Vintage Americana decor has my heart ❤️🤍💙

There’s just something about decorating with old red, white, and blue treasures that makes a home feel extra cozy for summer. I love styling my dining room shelves with vintage Americana pieces, antique finds, and patriotic decor that can stay up from Memorial Day all the way through the Fourth of July and beyond!

Give me all the weathered flags, vintage crocks, old books, and classic Americana touches. 🇺🇸

I know some people pack away their patriotic decorations after July 4th, but I love leaving my summer patriotic decor out all season long. It just feels timeless to me!

Honestly, staying home healing after surgery has taught me one thing… I never want to leave my house again 😂 Being cozy at home with my cats, resting, binge watching shows, and avoiding the outside world has been absolutely glorious. I truly understand the “stay at home cat mom” lifestyle now lol.

At this point, I have everything I need right here at home. Peace, comfy clothes, snacks, my pets, and zero social obligations 🤣 Meanwhile, every time I actually leave the house, I come back completely exhausted.

So the fact that I have to go back to work today after a month of recovery is honestly going to be SUCH a rough adjustment 😅 I’m not mentally prepared to rejoin society yet lol. Anyone else secretly love being home way too much?!

Honestly, I’ve been struggling with the thought of Honestly, I’ve been struggling with the thought of going back to work while still recovering from surgery. Between the physical healing and the emotional side of post-surgery recovery, I’ve been feeling pretty down lately. So this comedy date night ended up being exactly what I needed.

We bought tickets to see @johnbcrist months ago, long before I had any idea I’d be spending a month on surgery leave. Turns out the timing couldn’t have been more perfect. This was our third time seeing him live, and he absolutely delivered. I laughed so hard that for a couple of hours, I completely forgot about returning to work, ongoing recovery, and all the stress waiting for me next week. 🤣

Before the show, we had dinner at @redgingerasianbistro and finished the night with dessert at @timesbarandcoffee which made the whole evening even better. Good food, lots of laughs, and quality time with my husband was exactly the distraction I needed.

Sometimes healing isn’t just about physical recovery. Sometimes it’s about finding little moments that remind you how good it feels to laugh again. ❤️

Not me having to put on my sunglasses every time I Not me having to put on my sunglasses every time I have to chop onions because my eyes tear up so bad… 🤣

Ever since I had LASIK surgery a few years ago, chopping onions has been brutal on my eyes. I’m talking instant tears the second I start cutting them 😂 Apparently my eyes became extra sensitive afterward, and honestly it’s been a struggle ever since.

But then I heard about the “wear sunglasses while chopping onions” hack and y’all… why does it actually work?! 😅 So now anytime my hubby isn’t home to take over onion duty, you can catch me in the kitchen wearing sunglasses indoors looking ridiculous but tear-free 😎

If you’ve ever wondered how to stop crying while cutting onions, consider this your sign to try the sunglasses trick! It may look silly, but it seriously helps block those onion fumes from hitting your eyes 👏

Now I need to know… does anyone else have weird kitchen hacks like this? 😂 #kitchenhacks #cookinghacks #onionhack #cookinghack #onions
Y’all already know I’ve been on a serious freezer Y’all already know I’ve been on a serious freezer meal kick lately since I unfortunately have to go back to work next week 😭 And let me tell you… having a freezer stocked full of easy homemade dinners is about to save me on those busy weeknights!

One of my all-time favorite freezer meals is this homemade chicken pot pie recipe 🥧✨ It definitely takes a little extra work, especially if you make the homemade pie crust from scratch; but trust me, it is SO worth it. The creamy chicken filling, flaky buttery crust, and cozy comfort food vibes make it one of the best dinners ever.

Anytime I make homemade chicken pot pie, I always make two: one for dinner now and one freezer meal for later. And this time, I took my extra frozen chicken pot pie to my sweet mama after her surgery yesterday 💛 It’s honestly the perfect meal to bring someone recovering from surgery, welcoming a new baby, or just going through a hard season because all they have to do is pop it in the oven for an easy homemade comfort meal.

If you love easy freezer meals, homemade comfort food recipes, or make-ahead dinners for busy families, you definitely need to try this one!

I can’t believe it’s officially been one month sin I can’t believe it’s officially been one month since my endometriosis excision surgery. Honestly, I really thought by now I’d be coming on here saying I finally felt like myself again. I wanted this surgery to be the answer so badly. But the truth is… I’m still struggling every single day.

The lower back pain, hip pain, chronic fatigue, GI issues, insomnia, dizziness, and POTS-like symptoms are all still here. And while my surgeon was absolutely wonderful and removed the endometriosis she found, we’re now starting to realize there may be something more going on underneath it all.

Right now we’re exploring possibilities like EDS, MCAS, and POTS, which honestly feels overwhelming because getting doctors to truly listen and take women seriously can feel like a full time job in itself. I know so many women with chronic illness, endometriosis, and invisible illnesses understand exactly what I mean.

But even though I’m discouraged, I’m not giving up. I know my body, I know something still isn’t right, and I’ll continue advocating for myself until I get answers. And if sharing my story helps even one woman feel less alone in her own health journey, then it’s worth it 🤍 #chronicillnessawareness #chronicillnesswarrior #endometriosis #endometriosisexcision #chronicallyill

Minimalist Halloween Decor Ideas

I’m not big into Halloween decor honestly. I like regular old fall decor much better! But, I do like a few pieces here and there. So I figured I could share a few minimalist Halloween Decor ideas with you all here. In case you feel the same way as me!

I decided to try my hand at a Halloween coffee bar this year. Seeing as how y’all know I love changing my coffee bar up every season. So I thought that would be a good place to start with some minimalist Halloween decor.

I also made a few cute and spooky Halloween DIY projects this year and I wanted to share them with you here too. It’s so much fun to be able to craft your own decor this spooky season! I will be sharing all these great ideas with you below, so be sure to check them all out for some great DIY ideas!

Halloween Coffee Bar

To get me into the Halloween spirit, I thought it would be fun this year to create my own Halloween coffee bar. And even though it has a minimalist vibe, this space is the most Halloween space in my home! I got most of the decor from Walmart at some great and reasonable prices.

Minimalistic Halloween Coffee Bar
Shop all the items to my Halloween coffee bar below:

I didn’t want to spend a ton of money on Halloween decor, especially since it’s not my favorite season. However, you can also get some great and cheap Halloween decor at your local Dollar Store too! So if you’re like me and don’t want to spend a ton of money on it, check there! You can also find some deals at your local thrift shop too! So don’t just limit your search to big box stores.

To make a big impact with my Halloween coffee bar, I used a combination of Jack O’ Lantern mugs and Spiderweb mugs. I love the bright colors to the Jack O’ Lantern mugs. It gives the coffee bar a nice color palette. Everything else I got is mainly neutral, being just black and white.

I added in this cute white ghosts treat jar on top, as well as a trick or treat canister too. On my tiered tray, I added another pumpkin treat jar, along with the extra Halloween mugs I had laying on hand. A great way to add in some spooky accents, especially at night, is to add in some battery operated white candles.

Light Up Halloween Coffee Bar
Look at this spooky glow!

I put them everywhere around my coffee table and bar. I placed them behind signs and in my mugs for a spooky cute glow.

Walmart also had some orange battery operated candles and a LED black cauldron too so I placed them where you could see them easily, keep with the black and orange theme. I also placed a mini skelly in my mug on my tiered tray and had him waving. Another spooky cute aspect!

Minimalist Halloween Coffee Bar At Night
Even more spooky at night!

They also had a ton of cute Halloween prints and signs, like the little Eek sign I have on the corner of the shelf! Again, it went great with the color scheme and the whole minimalist Halloween decor vibe! This coffee bar would work great for a Halloween party if you are hosting one at your home this year!

And then, my favorite part is this DIY Halloween Sign I made using my Glowforge machine! I think it is the perfect minimalist decor piece for Halloween! Keep on reading below to see just how easily I made it and how you can get one too!

Minimal Halloween Decor

DIY Halloween Sign

The next part of my Halloween decorations this year, is this super adorable sign! As I mentioned above, I made it using my Glowforge Aura machine and it literally only took me an afternoon to make.

After Printing Boo Sign
Right after printing the sign out from my Glowforge Aura.

I printed out the design on light basswood and then once it was printed out, I used Gorilla Tape to remove all the masking. After that, I went outside to spray paint the pieces! I painted the backing all in black paint, and the words and ghosts in white.

After Removing Masking
After removing the masking tape from the sign.

Then, after the pieces were all dry, I glued them onto the sign using B-7000 glue as I usually do in all my other Glowforge projects. This cute little sign would look great on a front door too!

Creating Minimalist Halloween Decor
I used tape to hold the letters down while I spray painted them.
Painting Halloween Decor Sign
Spray painting the sign backing here.
Spray Painting Halloween Sign
After spray painting and before assembling the sign.

I just have it held up on a display stand on my coffee bar. It gives it a minimal look for Halloween, but you can tell it is definitely one of the focal points to the coffee bar for sure! It gives the perfect cute spook factor!

After glueing the letters and ghosts on! How cute is this?!

If you have a Glowforge and want to make your own sign like this, it’s pretty simple! I got the design right from Glowforge’s catalog. However, if you don’t have a laser cutter, or just don’t feel like making one yourself, I have good news for you! I actually have this exact sign listed in my Etsy shop! So let me make one for you instead! I will link it below here and click the picture to shop:

DIY Ghost Plant Markers

Another cute and adorable DIY project I made this Halloween season were these ghost plant markers. I also made them using my Glowforge machine again. I printed out different sizes of ghosts and spray painted them all white.

Minimal Ghost Plant Marker
Little ghost plant markers with masking tape still on after printing.
Before Painting Ghost Plant Markers
After removing the masking from the ghost plant markers.

Since they were going to be outside and/or exposed to dirt and water from the plants, also added a layer of protective finishing spray. My favorite product for this is the Polyacrylic Minwax Protective Finishing Spray. Again, I have used it on other Glowforge projects I made that were going to be outside. Such as my DIY cat sign I did a few weeks ago!

Spray Painting Ghost Plant Markers
Spray painting them all white!
Finished Ghost Plant Markers
All finished here!

The bigger ghost plant markers I put into larger plants that I have outside on my porch. And then the smaller ones I placed into all my houseplants. Side note- most of my houseplants are from Easy Plants and I literally only have to water them once a month! They are game changers when it comes to keeping your houseplants alive!

Minimalist Ghost Decor
Finished Mini Ghost Plant Marker

But I mean how spooky cute are these ghost markers in my plants?! I am a tad obsessed! Not only did I have a great time making them, but they are the literal definition of cute, minimal Halloween decor in my opinion!

Mini Ghost Peeking Thru

And again, if you want me to make some for you, I have these cuties listed in my Etsy shop too! Both big and small! You can even place the larger ones out in your front yard, like lining your sidewalk too. How cute would that be?!

Enjoy Your Minimalist Halloween Decor

Whether you are a big seasonal decor lover like I am or not, you can still see how these little, minimal Halloween decor ideas are the perfect way to decorate for the holiday. Even if it’s your first Halloween actually decorating like me, or if you have decorated for quite some time now!

There is always somewhere you can add in a little seasonal decor too! Your living room or your front steps, the possibilities are endless! Just add in some white pumpkins here and there and you’re all set! And they don’t even have to be real pumpkins either. Whatever floats your boat!

I hope these simple decor ideas inspired you to do a little decorating yourself too! Let me know what you think below and if you decorate for Halloween or not too! Stay spooky my friends!!

Comment “RECIPE” below and I’ll send you my homemade chicken pot pie recipe! 🥧 #chickenpotpie #chickenpotpies #freezerfriendly #freezerfriendlymeals #comfortfoods
So instead of using the actual truck bed for two 1 So instead of using the actual truck bed for two 12-foot trees, he somehow decides cramming them into my SUV is the better option 🤣 And I’m still shocked they even fit. Barely 😅

Meanwhile, his shiny new truck is sitting safe and spotless in the garage where not a single speck of dirt or potting soil can touch it 😂🚙

Tell me I’m not the only wife dealing with this kind of logic?! 🤦🏼‍♀️😂 #marriagehumor #povreels #funnymarriage #husbandwifecomedy #husbandwifejokes
