DIY Golf Ball Pumpkins: Easy Golf-Themed Halloween Decor

If you know me, then you know my husband is a very avid golfer. He spends pretty much every weekend golfing, and while I don’t really play golf myself, I do enjoy going with him sometimes and being a golf cart passenger princess! 😂

So this year, I thought it would be fun to do something a little different with our Halloween pumpkin decorating. Instead of carving traditional jack-o’-lanterns, I decided to make these DIY golf ball pumpkins inspired by some of his favorite golf ball brands.

And I am so happy I did because I honestly love how they turned out!

These golf-themed pumpkins are such a fun and easy Halloween craft for golfers. They would be perfect for decorating a man cave, golf room, garage, office, front porch, or anywhere you want to add a little seasonal decor without going overboard on traditional Halloween decorations.

Plus, since I used faux white pumpkins, I can pull these out year after year!

Materials Needed to Make DIY Golf Ball Pumpkins

You only need a few craft supplies to make these easy golf ball pumpkins with a Cricut:

I used faux white pumpkins because they already had the perfect golf-ball color and I wanted to be able to reuse them every fall. However, you could absolutely use real pumpkins instead. Just paint or spray paint the pumpkins white first and allow them to dry completely before adding your designs.

How to Make DIY Golf Ball Pumpkins With a Cricut

To turn my plain white pumpkins into oversized golf balls, I decided to use my Cricut machine to create the designs.

Originally, I thought about painting the golf logos and numbers by hand. But with my shaky hands, I quickly realized that probably wasn’t going to be the best option for me!

Using adhesive vinyl also gives the logos a clean, crisp appearance and makes this project incredibly easy.

If you don’t have a Cricut, though, don’t worry. You could still recreate this golf pumpkin idea by painting your designs by hand or using stencils.

Step 1: Choose Your Golf Ball Designs

First, decide which golf-inspired designs you want to use on your pumpkins.

I created pumpkins inspired by Titleist, TaylorMade, and Callaway golf balls because I wanted each pumpkin to look like an oversized version of a classic golf ball.

I also added red numbers underneath the logos for another recognizable golf-ball detail.

If you’re recreating this project for personal use, choose designs inspired by your golfer’s favorite brands or create your own generic golf-themed lettering.

Step 2: Upload Your Designs to Cricut Design Space

Once I had my designs ready, I uploaded them into Cricut Design Space and resized each one to fit the front of my pumpkins.

Before cutting your vinyl, I recommend measuring the area where you want the decal to go. Pumpkins are curved, so keeping the design slightly smaller can make it much easier to apply smoothly.

Step 3: Cut and Weed the Vinyl

Next, I placed my black adhesive vinyl onto a Cricut mat and cut out the golf-inspired logos.

I used red vinyl for the golf ball numbers to add a little extra detail and make the pumpkins look even more like real golf balls.

After the Cricut finished cutting, I used my weeding tool to carefully remove all of the excess vinyl around the designs.

How to Apply Vinyl to Craft Pumpkins

I was a little worried that applying vinyl to the pumpkins wouldn’t work well or that the transfer tape might pull off some of the white finish. Thankfully, the craft pumpkins I used held up perfectly!

Once the designs were weeded, I placed a piece of transfer tape over each vinyl decal.

I used my Cricut scraper tool to press the vinyl firmly onto the transfer tape before carefully peeling away the vinyl backing.

Next, I positioned the decal where I wanted it on the front of the pumpkin.

Because the surface of a pumpkin is curved and uneven, take your time during this step. I found it easiest to gently press the vinyl down a little at a time rather than trying to stick the entire decal onto the pumpkin at once.

Once everything was positioned correctly, I used the scraper tool again to help adhere the vinyl.

Then I carefully peeled away the transfer tape, leaving the golf design behind.

Repeat the same process with the red number, and your DIY golf ball pumpkin is finished!

Can You Make Golf Ball Pumpkins Without a Cricut?

Absolutely!

While I love using my Cricut for projects like this, you definitely don’t need one to make your own golf-themed pumpkins.

You could use:

Golf-themed stencils
Adhesive letter stickers
Printable decals
Paint pens
Acrylic craft paint

You could even freehand the designs if you’re good at hand lettering.

Using paint may actually make this an even more affordable DIY Halloween craft for golf lovers, especially if you already have white pumpkins and craft paint at home.

Where to Display Golf-Themed Pumpkins

Once my DIY golf ball pumpkins were finished, I knew exactly where they needed to go—my husband’s man cave garage!

They fit perfectly with the golf and man cave vibe while still adding a fun touch of fall and Halloween decor to the space.

You could also display golf ball pumpkins:
