Materials Needed for DIY Lemon Kitchen Decor
High Quality Wood (I used basswood plywood from the xTool’s website)
Choosing a Lemon Print and Design
In order to cut out a lemon design, you can either create your own SVG, or order one on Etsy. I took the easier option and decided to order some from Etsy.
I am still not great at designing my own files. All that technical stuff goes straight over my head! But, maybe someday! Once I found a design I liked, I used a sheet of basswood plywood and cut it out using my xTool P2 machine.
The file I bought came with a few small signs that are perfect for a tiered tray. As well as some faux lemon bunting to make a simple banner with. So you really get several designs in just one file which makes it super affordable! I will link the exact one I used below:
Creating DIY Lemon Decor
Once all the lemon art was cut, I decided to stain the back pieces of the signs with some wood stain. I used my favorite, Minwax in Early American for this.
The stain really showcases the nature of wood and makes it pop! Then, for the other pieces, I used my favorite acrylic paint pens! If you’ve been around here for awhile, then you know I love to use these pens for projects like this!
It’s a great way to paint the wood pieces, without taking too much effort! I obviously used a lot of yellow for anything that had lemon slices on it. And of course a lot of green too since there were some green leaves to paint as well.
Once I had everything painted and dry, I used my B-7000 glue to adhere everything together. I like to let it sit out overnight to fully cure as well. Sometimes, pieces can still move around on you if you don’t give it enough time to set up properly.
Styling Your Lemon Decor
Now you’re ready to style your easy peasy lemon decor! The sizes of the signs make them perfect to put anywhere in your kitchen. Whether on your kitchen countertop with a tiered tray, or on your kitchen table.
I use a lot of these lemon decorations in our dining room too. Especially since we have an open concept home and our dining room is directly beside the kitchen anyway.
You could also use all these creations as a dining room centerpiece too. Another easy idea is to just have a dough bowl of lemons too! You could even use real lemons or fake lemons for that.
I do always like having fresh lemons on hand in the kitchen to squeeze over a dish or add in some water as well! You could really put these lemon home items anywhere, even the living room!
But, I especially love the pop of color I get with them in my white kitchen! The bright colors from the signs definitely make a great addition there. And you can easily find printed lemon kitchen mats, tea towels, or oven mitts at any home goods store or even your local Dollar Tree to accompany all this DIY lemon decor too!
I know Hobby Lobby also has a lot of lemon decor options too! And if you don’t like making your own decor, you could always check out Etsy for made-to-order items as well.
Enjoy Your Lemon Decor!
Y’all know how much I love easy DIY projects like this! And I think have a variety of handmade pieces in your decor just makes it that much more special! And there’s nothing more I love than to do a lemon theme during my summer decorating! I think it just screams summer to me!
And y’all know I love decorating my coffee bar too with all kinds of artificial lemons and decor like that too! It’s such an easy way to add in some DIY lemon kitchen decor too. And who says lemon decor has to be just for the kitchen only? You could really put lemon decor anywhere in your living space during the spring and summer in my opinion!
You could put faux lemon trees up anywhere in your home and enjoy them just the same! I hope you enjoyed this DIY post on how to make your own lemon decor!
