The second I saw this black cat in the Target Hall The second I saw this black cat in the Target Halloween decor section, I knew exactly what I had to do… turn it into Charlie. 😹

Obviously, I couldn’t just leave this little black cat statue as-is when I have my very own fluffy tuxedo cat at home! So I grabbed some paint while I was at Target and came home for a little Halloween craft night with my very attentive supervisor. 😂

And when I say Charlie supervised… I mean she watched VERY closely to make sure I got her likeness just right. 👀

I used white paint to recreate her adorable tuxedo face, pink for her little nose, and green for her eyes. Her eyebrow whiskers came out slightly wonky, but honestly… hers are a little wonky in real life too, so we’re calling that accuracy. 😂

When the DIY cat statue was finally finished, Charlie inspected my work and… well… I’m not sure she was impressed. 😹
Obviously she knows she’s MUCH prettier in person, so her Target Halloween decor dupe simply wasn’t up to her standards.

But I think it turned out absolutely adorable! 🐈‍⬛🎃 This was such an easy and fun way to personalize inexpensive Halloween decor and make it look just like your own pet.
Now I need to know… would you paint one to look like your cat?! 👇🏻

🍎 Don’t let those fresh orchard apples go to waste 🍎 Don’t let those fresh orchard apples go to waste! Freeze them instead! 😉

Have you ever tried freezing fresh apple slices?! This is one of my favorite fall kitchen hacks, especially after a trip to the apple orchard! 🍏

Every fall, I come home with WAY more apples than we could possibly eat before they go bad 😂 So instead of letting them sit on the counter, I prep and freeze a big batch of apple slices to use all season long!

Plus, it’s such an easy way to preserve those delicious fresh-picked apples from the orchard and enjoy them long after apple season is over. 🙌🏻🍎

Meanwhile, most sweat sets have me looking like an oversized pumpkin with a drawstring. 🎃😂

This Aerie sweat set might finally be my MomTok moment because I’m obsessed. It’s comfy, cute, and actually makes me feel put together while still basically wearing pajamas, which is exactly the kind of fashion I support. 😂

POV: you made the cutest DIY Halloween decor witho POV: you made the cutest DIY Halloween decor without buying a single thing 👻📖

This is your reminder that fall decor doesn’t have to be expensive! Some of my favorite seasonal decorations are DIY projects made with supplies I already have at home, and this spooky cute DIY ghost banner might be one of my favorites yet.

I started by brewing about 4 bags of black tea and letting it cool. While the tea was cooling, I tore a few pages out of an old book I already had and placed them in a shallow baking dish with the tea. I let the pages soak for several hours to give them that perfectly aged, vintage look.

Once the tea-stained book pages were dry, I used a ghost-shaped cookie cutter to trace little ghosts onto each page. Then I cut them out, added tiny faces with a Sharpie, and attached them to twine using mini clothespins.

And that’s it! 👻

I hung my DIY ghost garland on the hutch in my dining room, and I think it adds the perfect amount of spooky cute Halloween decor without spending a bunch of money.

You could easily customize this budget-friendly fall DIY too! Instead of ghosts, try pumpkins, leaves, bats, or whatever shape fits your fall decor. The possibilities are endless!

Save this easy DIY Halloween decor idea for your next fall craft night, and tell me: would you make the ghosts or switch them out for another fall shape?!

Gold Christmas Tree Ideas

Last year, I changed my whole Christmas tree theme to gold. You may remember in the past, I used more traditional colors such as red for my tree. But, I decided to change things up once we got our vintage leather sofas in the living room. The red just wasn’t vibing with the color of the leather to me. So I decided to switch things up a bit. And I figured I would share all my gold Christmas tree ideas with you all today.

That way, if you’re looking to change things up this holiday season, you will be ready! No matter what colors you use, I am sure you can create a beautiful tree with your theme!

If you want to see how I decorated my traditional Christmas tree in the past, be sure to go back to that post and read all about it. And then you can compare the two! Let me know what you think.

However, I am just loving the gold Christmas tree decorations this year. I think I will keep on with this year’s Christmas tree theme for many years to come!

Gold Christmas Tree Ideas

This post also contains affiliate links, which means I make a small commission off anything you purchase through here, at no additional cost to you. Please read my full disclosure policy for more details.

Choosing A Tree

The first thing when decorating a Christmas tree, is to of course choose the perfect one! Whether you want a real one or an artificial Christmas tree, either way will work.

I always do an artificial one, mainly because I am crazy and put our trees out so early in November. A real one just wouldn’t last that long!

But, to make up for it, I always have several Tree Farm Candles by Antique Candle Co burning in my home. They smell just like a real Christmas tree! So if you love artificial trees too, but want that real Christmas tree smell, grab you some of these amazing candles! They will do the trick!

Another thing I love when choosing a Christmas tree, is getting a flocked tree! Flocking makes it look more like a white Christmas tree, and the gold Christmas ornaments really pop against it!

But of course, a green tree would look just as good too! Another thing to consider is whether you want white lights or colored lights for your tree.

I always tend to lean more towards white. It’s funny as a kid, I always fought to have colored lights on the tree. But now as an adult, I love the classic white twinkling lights instead!

The tree we have in the living room is a 8 foot King Noble Flock Artificial Tree with 600 warm white lights. We got this tree from King of Christmas, and in my opinion, they have the best trees ever!  We have several in our home!

Gold Christmas Tree in Living Room

Placing The Christmas Tree

Now, once you have the tree picked out, you need to figure out where it will look best inside your home. I always recommend by a big window. That way, you can see it when you drive by!

There is nothing I love more than seeing a beautiful Christmas tree lit up by a window driving down the streets! We placed our tree by our big window in the living room.

Gold Christmas Tree

Since the king noble flock tree is made to be a little sparse, it didn’t quite fill out the whole window like I was envisioning. So I thought, why not add some more smaller trees around it?!

And I am so glad I did! It looks like a magical Christmas tree forest! I got some cute little 4 foot pre lit flocked Christmas trees in a basket from Target and placed them on each side of the big Christmas tree.

Then, to be even more extra, I added in two little 3 foot flocked trees from King of Christmas again. They match the big tree perfectly! So technically, I have a total of 5 Christmas trees in my living room.

I mean, I know it sounds a tad extreme, but I am very extra during the Christmas season okay! And I only add decorations to the big, main tree, and leave the other little ones bare.

But that way, it makes for a great focal point in the living room. I also placed a beautiful tree skirt under my big Christmas tree and it was large enough to have the other smaller Christmas trees placed on it as well. It actually looks like faux snow since it is white and fluffy, which I love!

Decorating The Christmas Tree

Now to share all my fun gold Christmas tree ideas! I always start from the top of the tree and work my way down. I place a brass Christmas star on top and then add in some brassy gold garland.

Starting from the top and working my way down, I just fill in some bare spots with the garland. I do this before adding any ornaments in. Especially glass ornaments because I don’t want to knock those over and break them.

Gold Christmas Trees

After I get the garland in place, I start adding all the ornaments. Starting with large ornaments first to fill in the bigger gaps of the tree. One of my favorite sets of ornaments are these beautiful gold mercury glass ornaments from Pottery Barn.

They look so vintage and that’s why I just love them. I got some cheaper, new ornaments from Hobby Lobby as well to help fill in the tree. But, I keep my favorite ornaments towards the front so you can really see them.

Another thing I add is some gold ribbon bows all around the tree too. I really think the whole gold color scheme is perfect for our home.

It fits with the whole vintage Christmas vibe I have going on as well. Also, gold floral sprays are another great gold Christmas tree idea to add this year!

Christmas Reading Nook

Other Gold Christmas Decorations

I also try to add in some other gold Christmas decorations around the house too. You may remember in my Christmas centerpieces post, I shared all about how to make a gold coffee table centerpiece.

As well as adding in some gold chargers to my dining room tablescape. When incorporating a new theme for Christmas, I try to add little pieces here and there. I still use traditional red at my table and coffee bar in the dining room.

Which you can see from the living room too since it is all open concept. But, by adding gold decor in little pieces, it all goes together quite nicely. And now I have a gold sophisticated Christmas tree, but can still use different colors in other areas of my home too.

Gold Christmas Shelves

Christmas Mantel

Our fireplace mantel is right next to our Christmas tree in the living room. So the overall look of it needed to have some gold elements in it as well.

Vintage Gold Ornament Garland

I found a beautiful mercury glass ornament garland this year and draped it across the mantel. Along with my King of Christmas flocked pre lit garland too.

And you may remember my DIY Christmas bells I made a few weeks ago too. I have them draped down the side of the mantel too.

Gold Christmas Mantle.png

Don’t forget to hang the stockings on the mantel too! To hang them, I have some antique gold stocking hangers as well that look perfect with the whole gold holiday decor theme!

Wrapping Presents

To tie everything together, I even get my wrapping paper with gold touches. To match a beautifully decorated tree, you need to have some beautifully decorated Christmas presents too!

I even create my own little gold gift tags to accompany them as well. Top that with some festive gold ribbon and you’ve got yourself some pretty wrapped presents under a gorgeous tree!

Finished DIY Gift Tag

Enjoy These Gold Christmas Tree Ideas

Well, I hope all these great ideas really put you in the Christmas spirit! And I hope it helped give you some inspiration on how to decorate your tree this year too.

Especially if you are going with a gold theme as well. No matter how you decorate, I am sure you all have some gorgeous Christmas trees too!

That’s the best part of decorating for Christmas. You can do it however your heart desires with your own decorating style! I hope you all have a very Merry Christmas my friends and enjoy this holiday season looking at your own festive tree!
