We went to Charlotte, NC a couple of times this past year and loved it. So I figured I would share with you all everything we did while we were down there, as well as the very best date restaurants in Charlotte, NC too.
Now, keep in mind we were only there for a weekend or two, so we didn’t have time to explore everything. And Charlotte is such a big city, I am sure there are a few restaurants there that we didn’t get to experience yet that are lovely for a romantic dinner too.
I am just sharing from our experience and talking about the best restaurants we went to while we were visiting. And I hope to be back soon to try out some more date night dining spots in Charlotte too!

Merchant & Trade
One of our first trips to Charlotte was to see my favorite artist, Morgan Wallen perform. And it happened to be right after Hurricane Helene hit us this year.
You may remember I mentioned Helene back on our 8th wedding anniversary blog post I did. We had already had this trip planned, despite Helene for months. And I am so glad that we did because honestly, I was so excited to go to Charlotte just for the clean, running water!
I could not wait to take as many hotel showers as I wanted to over the weekend. If you remember, we spent our actual anniversary with no running water, no power, no cell service, and no internet.
So being able to celebrate late in Charlotte was really a special occasion for us. I felt so dressed up and pretty, mainly because I hadn’t even bothered with putting on makeup for like a month after Helene.
So it was fun to get all dressed up and try out some of the best date night restaurants around the area. Our first stop was to Merchant & Trade and we absolutely loved it. They had an amazing outdoor patio complete with string lights on the roof which made for a very welcoming atmosphere.
Keep in mind this place is a first come, first style establishment. But they have a lot of great food and drinks to choose from. They have some great seasonal small plates, so if you just want a light bite to eat, it’s the perfect spot.
They also have some amazing looking charcuterie boards too! We ended up getting some of their deviled eggs to share and they were amazing. Perfect little appetizer before dinner.
Since this place is located right in the heart of uptown Charlotte, it’s a great spot to start your perfect date night off with! Be sure to check out their event calendar because some days they even offer live music there too. Definitely worth checking out!
Fahrenheit
Fahrenheit is one of the most romantic restaurants Charlotte, North Carolina has to offer. Located on the top floor of a high rise building, you get some incredible views of downtown that you can get no where else in the city.
This restaurant is where we actually celebrated our anniversary post Helene. And it did not disappoint! With their deluxe fun dining experience and innovative food, you just can’t go wrong.
The inside of the restaurant had an intimate setting to it, and there were several spots outside where you could sit and enjoy the views with. The servers definitely treated us to a romantic evening and took great care of us since we were celebrating our anniversary.
I still remember the sea bass we got for dinner and it was absolutely delicious, I have never had anything like it before. A lot of their dishes had an Asian style flair to them which made for an overall great experience and a great spot for a romantic date night.
Plus, after dinner going outside to the rooftop just for the views made for such a dreamy night! I love looking at all the city lights on display late in the evening!
Church & Union
Y’all have heard me mention this place before as our favorite city, Charleston, also has a Church & Union restaurant. But, the one in Charlotte was the very first location, which I did not know.
Church & Union are one of the best trendy date restaurants around. Even if you just go for brunch, which is exactly what we did. We ended up going there the morning before the Morgan Wallen concert.
And it was perfect because it kept us nice and full until the concert! I loved the interior of the restaurant as it looks completely different than the one in Charleston. The one in Charleston was made out of an old church so it is definitely different.
But, Charlotte’s location had a more romantic and whimsical touch. I would definitely say that Church & Union is one of the best romantic yet affordable fine dining restaurants around. Especially since they offer multiple options such as brunch, lunch, and dinner too.
STK
I think STK is one of the best luxury date restaurants in the Charlotte area. It is by no means affordable, but it is a great place to go to for a special occasion.
We went there with some friends earlier in the summer before we went to a Dusty Slay comedy show. And let me tell you, it was so delicious! They have anything from a lobster tail to some of the best filets and tomahawk steak you will ever eat.
There are many multi-course meals that you can choose from here. Ironically enough, I also got the sea bass entree here as well and it was absolutely delicious as well.
The dining area here was super modern and open and had a great vibe to it. Definitely one of the best romantic restaurants around with some incredible food to choose from!
