Ingredients Needed For Easter M&M Cookies
- 3/4 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 egg, room temperature
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract, I used my homemade vanilla extract for this!
- 2 1/2 cups all purpose flour, sifted
- 2 tsp cornstarch
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 12 oz semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 cup M&Ms (the pastel Easter kind)
Make The Cookie Dough
The first thing you need to do is make the cookie dough obviously. Sift together the flour, baking soda, cornstarch, and salt in a large bowl and set aside.
Combine the butter and both sugars in the bowl of a stand up mixer. Mix until well combined and then add in vanilla and the egg.
After mixing that together, add the dry ingredients slowly into the wet ingredients in the mixer. Combine until throughly mixed and then fold in the chocolate chips and M&Ms.
Freeze the cookie dough for up to one hour or overnight before baking. When ready to bake, preheat your oven to 350 degrees and bake for 10-12 minutes. Let cool completely on wire rack. Store cookies in an airtight container for up to a week and enjoy!
Also, when baking y’all know I love to use my Caraway Home pans. They literally are the best! Nothing ever sticks to them! And you can always use my coupon code “MORNINGS_ON_MACEDONIA10” to get 10% off anything from their site as well!
Recipe Notes
Even though this is a super easy recipe, it does require a little time to make. So you need to consider the amount of time it takes for the butter and egg to come to room temperature. As well as freezing the cookie dough balls. You can do as little as an hour, or even overnight.
Depending on how much time you have! If you decide to leave them in the freezer overnight, be sure to let the cookie dough rest at room temperature for 10 minutes before placing cookies in the oven to bake.
When freezing, you can either leave the dough balls on the cookie sheet and cover with plastic wrap. Or you can just place all the dough balls into a freezer bag and freeze them that way. Which is what I did since I don’t have that much room in my freezer anyway!
If desired, you could also press more M&Ms into the top of the cookies as they come out of the oven. I did not do this because in my opinion there is plenty of chocolate already in the cookie. Especially with the chocolate chips too.
But, you could definitely do this to make them look even more festive for Easter! They also do puff up a bit, so by placing some M&Ms on top and pressing the cookie down, it will be more of a normal cookie shape! However, again, totally up to you and your preference!
Enjoy Your Easter M&M Cookies
I hope you enjoyed this easy and delicious recipe! And if you try them out, please let me know what you think! I love any kind of seasonal desserts. As you probably already know if you’ve been around here long enough!
