Looking for an easy apple cobbler recipe that requires just a few simple ingredients? This 3-ingredient apple cobbler with sugar cookie dough is one of the easiest fall desserts you can make! It comes together in just minutes using canned apple pie filling (or homemade cinnamon apples), refrigerated sugar cookie dough, and apple pie spice.
The original recipe called for canned apple pie filling, but I had some frozen apple slices in my freezer that I needed to use up. Instead of letting them go to waste, I decided to use my Crockpot Cinnamon Apples as the filling, and it turned out delicious!
Of course, if you want to make this recipe as quick and easy as possible, you can absolutely use canned apple pie filling instead. Either way, you basically just layer everything in a baking dish, pop it in the oven, and serve it warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and caramel sauce. It’s the perfect easy fall dessert!

Ingredients for Easy 3-Ingredient Apple Cobbler
You only need a few simple ingredients to make this easy apple cobbler recipe:
- Canned apple pie filling (or my homemade Crockpot Cinnamon Apples)
- Refrigerated sugar cookie dough (I used Sweet Loren’s)
- Apple pie spice, for sprinkling
- Vanilla ice cream, for serving
- Caramel sauce, for serving
The ice cream and caramel sauce are optional, but I highly recommend them! Warm apple cobbler topped with cold vanilla ice cream and a drizzle of caramel is the ultimate fall dessert combination.

How to Make 3-Ingredient Apple Cobbler
One of the best things about this easy apple cobbler with sugar cookie dough is that there is hardly any prep work involved.
Step 1: Add the Apple Filling
Start by adding your canned apple pie filling to the bottom of a 9×13-inch baking dish.
If you’re using my Crockpot Cinnamon Apples instead, simply add the cooked cinnamon apples to the baking dish once they’re finished cooking.

Step 2: Add the Sugar Cookie Dough
Next, take your refrigerated sugar cookie dough and break it into smaller pieces. Arrange the pieces evenly over the top of the apples.
You don’t have to make it perfect! As the cookie dough bakes, it spreads and creates a delicious golden-brown cookie topping.

Step 3: Add Apple Pie Spice
Sprinkle a little apple pie spice over the top of the cookie dough. This adds even more warm, cozy fall flavor.
Step 4: Bake
Bake the apple cobbler at 350°F for approximately 45 minutes, or until the cookie dough is golden brown and cooked through.
Let the cobbler cool slightly before serving, but I definitely recommend enjoying it while it’s still warm!

Step 5: Add Your Toppings
For the ultimate easy apple dessert, serve a warm scoop of apple cobbler with vanilla ice cream and a drizzle of caramel sauce.
The combination of warm cinnamon apples, buttery sugar cookie topping, creamy vanilla ice cream, and caramel is SO good!

Easy Apple Cobbler Recipe Variations
Make a Single-Serve Apple Cobbler
This recipe is also perfect if you only want to make one or two servings of apple cobbler instead of an entire 9×13-inch baking dish.

I simply added some of the cinnamon apples to a small oven-safe baking dish and placed one ball of sugar cookie dough on top. I baked it at 350°F for about 25 minutes, or until the cookie dough was golden brown.
This is such a great option for smaller households because sometimes you don’t need an entire pan of dessert when it’s just you and your husband enjoying it!

Use Canned Apple Pie Filling
If you don’t have homemade cinnamon apples on hand, don’t worry! Canned apple pie filling works perfectly in this recipe and makes this dessert even easier.
Simply open the can, add it to your baking dish, top with cookie dough, and bake. That’s it!
Try Different Cookie Dough
I used sugar cookie dough for this recipe, but you could experiment with other refrigerated cookie dough flavors too. A cinnamon, oatmeal, or snickerdoodle-style dough could be delicious with the apple filling.
How to Store Apple Cobbler
If you have leftovers, allow the apple cobbler to cool and then cover and store it in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
You can reheat individual portions in the microwave until warm. Add a fresh scoop of vanilla ice cream right before serving!
