Happy Sunday, friends! ☀️Sharing a few cozy Sunday Happy Sunday, friends! ☀️Sharing a few cozy Sunday stills of our front porch today because I’m absolutely soaking up this beautiful weather. There’s just something special about slowing down, enjoying some good old-fashioned porch sitting, and taking in the sights and sounds of summer. Anyone else spending time outside today?

I’m especially excited that we finally got our flower beds refreshed and ready for the season! 🌸🐦 The colorful blooms have already started attracting hummingbirds, and watching them dart around the flowers from inside the house each morning has quickly become one of my favorite parts of the day.

Between the front porch decor, blooming flowers, and warm summer sunshine, home feels extra sweet right now. ❤️

Wishing you all a relaxing Sunday filled with sunshine, fresh air, and a little time to enjoy the simple things. #sundaystills #flowerbed #flowerbeds #porchdecor #porchsitting
But can we talk about how hard it is to make frien But can we talk about how hard it is to make friends in your 30s?! Is anyone else struggling with adult friendships, or is it just me?

Maybe it’s my socially awkward, overthinking brain. Maybe it’s because I spend 99% of my free time at home and have fully embraced my introvert era. Or maybe it’s the fact that every time I meet someone new, I replay the entire conversation in my head for the next 3-5 business days. 🤣

And while I’ve never been officially diagnosed as neurodivergent, let’s just say some of those traits hit a little too close to home. 🧠😂

So if you’re also navigating social anxiety, an expired social battery, awkward small talk, and the challenge of making friends as an adult... welcome. You’re my people.

At least in my head, I’m the life of the party. 🎉🤣 #neurodivergent #neurodivergentsupport #socialanxietymemes #adultfriendships #socialbattery

I officially made it through my first full week back to work after a month-long surgery leave, and whew… the post-op fatigue is NO joke.

Every evening has looked pretty much the same: clock out, soak my aching body in a scorching hot bath, grab my heating pad, put on my weighted eye mask, and immediately take a cat nap before I can even think about making dinner or doing anything around the house. 😴

I knew recovering from endometriosis excision surgery would take time, but I didn’t expect the exhaustion to hit this hard after returning to work. My body is definitely reminding me that healing isn’t always a straight line.

Right now, this little recovery routine is getting me through:
💛 Hot bath
💛 Heating pad on full blast
💛 Weighted eye mask (shoutout to @nodpodofficial)
💛 Emergency evening nap

Thankfully, it’s finally the weekend, and I can focus on resting and recharging before doing it all over again next week.

If you’ve had endometriosis excision surgery, how long did the fatigue last for you after returning to work? Please tell me this part doesn’t last forever! 😂👇

Whenever I have a bad day at work, I remind myself that I need that paycheck so my cats can stay home all day, nap in peace, eat snacks, and live their best spoiled-cat lives. 😂

This first week back at work has been ROUGH, y’all. I miss being home with my fur babies more than anything. Honestly, I think my true calling in life is being a stay-at-home cat mom. 🐾

But unfortunately, someone has to pay for the treats, toys, fancy food, and all the other necessities required to maintain this luxury cat lifestyle. And that someone is me. 😅

The funniest part? I don’t even think little Miss Riley misses me. As long as the food bowl stays full and the treats keep coming, she’s perfectly content living her best life while I’m out here working my butt off. 🤣

Anyone else with a chronic illness immediately Goo Anyone else with a chronic illness immediately Google every possible side effect before starting a new medication? Because I swear if there’s a rare reaction listed, somehow I’m the lucky winner. 🤣

Being chronically ill means I’ve tried my fair share of medications over the years, and my body always seems to have a mind of its own. If a medicine is supposed to make people sleepy, I’ll be wide awake all night. If there’s a tiny chance of an adverse reaction, somehow I’m usually that tiny percentage. 😅

So starting a new medication is always a little nerve-wracking for me. Part of me is hopeful it’ll finally provide some relief, and the other part is preparing for whatever random side effect my body decides to throw my way.

Here’s hoping this one actually helps my symptoms without adding a whole new list of problems. 🤞😂

There’s just something about decorating with old red, white, and blue treasures that makes a home feel extra cozy for summer. I love styling my dining room shelves with vintage Americana pieces, antique finds, and patriotic decor that can stay up from Memorial Day all the way through the Fourth of July and beyond!

Give me all the weathered flags, vintage crocks, old books, and classic Americana touches. 🇺🇸

I know some people pack away their patriotic decorations after July 4th, but I love leaving my summer patriotic decor out all season long. It just feels timeless to me!

Honestly, staying home healing after surgery has taught me one thing… I never want to leave my house again 😂 Being cozy at home with my cats, resting, binge watching shows, and avoiding the outside world has been absolutely glorious. I truly understand the “stay at home cat mom” lifestyle now lol.

At this point, I have everything I need right here at home. Peace, comfy clothes, snacks, my pets, and zero social obligations 🤣 Meanwhile, every time I actually leave the house, I come back completely exhausted.

So the fact that I have to go back to work today after a month of recovery is honestly going to be SUCH a rough adjustment 😅 I’m not mentally prepared to rejoin society yet lol. Anyone else secretly love being home way too much?!

Honestly, I’ve been struggling with the thought of Honestly, I’ve been struggling with the thought of going back to work while still recovering from surgery. Between the physical healing and the emotional side of post-surgery recovery, I’ve been feeling pretty down lately. So this comedy date night ended up being exactly what I needed.

We bought tickets to see @johnbcrist months ago, long before I had any idea I’d be spending a month on surgery leave. Turns out the timing couldn’t have been more perfect. This was our third time seeing him live, and he absolutely delivered. I laughed so hard that for a couple of hours, I completely forgot about returning to work, ongoing recovery, and all the stress waiting for me next week. 🤣

Before the show, we had dinner at @redgingerasianbistro and finished the night with dessert at @timesbarandcoffee which made the whole evening even better. Good food, lots of laughs, and quality time with my husband was exactly the distraction I needed.

Sometimes healing isn’t just about physical recovery. Sometimes it’s about finding little moments that remind you how good it feels to laugh again. ❤️

Ever since I had LASIK surgery a few years ago, chopping onions has been brutal on my eyes. I’m talking instant tears the second I start cutting them 😂 Apparently my eyes became extra sensitive afterward, and honestly it’s been a struggle ever since.

But then I heard about the “wear sunglasses while chopping onions” hack and y’all… why does it actually work?! 😅 So now anytime my hubby isn’t home to take over onion duty, you can catch me in the kitchen wearing sunglasses indoors looking ridiculous but tear-free 😎

If you’ve ever wondered how to stop crying while cutting onions, consider this your sign to try the sunglasses trick! It may look silly, but it seriously helps block those onion fumes from hitting your eyes 👏

One of my all-time favorite freezer meals is this homemade chicken pot pie recipe 🥧✨ It definitely takes a little extra work, especially if you make the homemade pie crust from scratch; but trust me, it is SO worth it. The creamy chicken filling, flaky buttery crust, and cozy comfort food vibes make it one of the best dinners ever.

Anytime I make homemade chicken pot pie, I always make two: one for dinner now and one freezer meal for later. And this time, I took my extra frozen chicken pot pie to my sweet mama after her surgery yesterday 💛 It’s honestly the perfect meal to bring someone recovering from surgery, welcoming a new baby, or just going through a hard season because all they have to do is pop it in the oven for an easy homemade comfort meal.

My Summer Essentials

I recently caught the bug of clothes shopping again and I am definitely enjoying it this Summer. I used to just strictly shop for home decor and leave new clothes in the dust, but this Summer it got to the point where I really needed to update my wardrobe.

So that’s why I thought it would be fun to share with you all my Summer fashion essentials that I have been loving so far!

I am by no means a fashion blogger, and I kinda feel a little silly sharing all this with you! But I thought it would be fun to do something different today and I thought I could help inspire those who needed a little help with their summer fashion too.

I know I really needed all the tips and tricks when it came to fashion too so I am applying what I’ve learned and sharing it with you all.

Below you will find all the pieces that I consider to be essential for summer. I tried to link all of my recent purchases for you too.

I really got most of it from Target, so if you have one near you, definitely go check them out! They are really killing it when it comes to summer fashion this year!

My Summer Fashion Essentials
Pin for later!

Dresses

I personally love to wear dresses, even more so than shorts during the summer. I find them to be more flattering and I have short, chunky legs so they tend to cover that more so than shorts!

Dresses are definitely some of my favorite summer essentials and I’m sharing a few cute ones below with you all as well:

My mom bought me this dress below for my birthday and I am obsessed with it! I think that’s what started my crazy fashion haul from Target here recently too.

I am only 5’1″ and this dress hits me like a perfect maxi dress. I don’t think it is intended to be a maxi dress, but since I am so short and can’t wear real maxi dresses (unless they are petite), I was so excited about the fit of this one!

Summer Dresses
Such a beautiful dress! Perfect for a night out!

High Rise Shorts

Despite my chunky leg dilemma, I was still in desperate need of some new shorts. I seriously don’t think I have bought new shorts since I graduated high school and that has been almost 10 years ago!

So yeah, I would say it was definitely overdue.

I decided to go out of my comfort zone and try out some high rise denim shorts for the first time in my life. And the verdict is, I LOVE them!

I can’t believe I never tried them before. I honestly thought they would look terrible on me, but really they are so much more flattering than I thought they would be!

I am loving the brand Universal Thread at Target for shorts right now too. I have been able to get several great pairs from them as well as the brand Wild Fable too!

I also used to hate tucking my shirts into my shorts, but now with these cute high rise shorts I’ve been getting, it actually looks pretty cute!

I feel like it is definitely more slimming as well. These shorts have been one of my favorite summer essentials to add into my wardrobe!

Summer Shorts
I just fell in love with these jean shorts and had to order more!

I have a picture of the Wild Fable shorts below too. They are more like a linen material and are so soft and comfy!

I got them in two different colors and definitely plan on wearing them a lot this Summer!

High Rise Summer Shorts
I am digging this bright coral color for summer!

Swimsuits

You really can’t enjoy summer without a few good swimsuits. That’s why they have obviously made into my summer essentials list!

I have been obsessed with the brand Kona Sol at Target for bathing suits this summer. I have already ordered three new sets so I definitely would say that I am happy with this brand!

They really fit so well and I love how the bottoms are full coverage. I just hate cheeky swimsuits and prefer more of a hipster bottom, which these are! I am so happy to have finally found me some new and improved swimsuits this summer!

T Shirts

First of all, we just have to talk about the CUTEST Fourth of July Shirt I found for myself this week:

If you know me, then you know I am a cat mom so this shirt is perfect for me! I may just even wear it all year round because it’s not too overwhelmingly Fourth of July, so I think I can get by with it.

It’s just too cute not to wear it multiple times, right?!

Summer T Shirt Essentials
How cute is my Fourth of July Outfit going to be this year?!

I’ve also been able to find several other cute shirts from Target this year as well which I will link below. I am definitely loving their slim fitting tank top too. I seriously got it in four different colors!

And they look so cute with my high rise shorts as well! I would say the tank tops are definitely one of the best summer essentials to have in your closet.

Shoes

Getting new shoes are definitely summer essentials right?! I always lean more towards comfy sandals, but I do like to have a few dressier wedges as well.

I am not a big high heels person because I feel like I can’t walk comfortably in them. But, with wedges I can! So I always love to have a few of those in my summer wardrobe for sure.

I also love to have a pair of Chaco’s around to throw on with some athletic wear. Or I usually wear them to the pool too.

They are great sandals to get wet and be active in. It’s a great alternative to wearing tennis shoes because

I usually don’t like to wear tennis shoes during the summer (unless I’m working out of course) since my feet get so hot!

High Rise Shorts
Here you can see how the high rise denim shorts fit me. I will also be sharing more about this entryway table too later so be sure to keep coming back for that! Can’t wait to show you guys how I style it!

Accessories

I am a sucker for some good hats! I love wearing hats and I feel like I can only get by with wearing them if I am on vacation.

But, I am trying to wear them more often this summer no matter what. It’s good sun protection, and they are just too cute to pass up! I think hats are one of my favorite summer essentials for sure.

I love wearing sun hats with cute outfits, like when going out to dinner or something. And I love to wear your basic ball cap if I’m out lounging by the pool.

I try to shield my face as much as I can from the sun because I do tend to get sunburnt more so there than anywhere else.

Summer Hats
Don’t mind my awkward selfie (I hate taking them lol) but I just had to show you guys the bottom of this sun hat! It’s cheetah print! I am obsessed!! You can get the same hat here too!

Another one of my favorite summer essentials is sunglasses! I personally love my Ray Bans and I wear them all the time. I have linked the ones I have below and I know you will love them too:

Pooltime Essentials

Going to the pool as much as possible is a must this summer so I thought I would also link some great pool ideas as well. I love my Vera Bradley pool towels.

I use them so much and they have held up so well throughout the years I’ve had them too. I also love a good float to lounge in by the pool and you can’t forget some fun water toys to play with too.

I also love my Yeti to keep my drinks nice and cold too!

So as you can see, Target was my main stop for fashion shopping.

But, I always love to support small business too. If you know of a great online boutique with cute clothes, let me know below! I only know of home decor ones obviously lol But also, what are some of your summertime essentials??

I would love to know below!

I can’t make it through the summer without a few good pairs of sunglasses. I have a bad habit of sitting them down and forgetting them in various places, so I tend to keep a few pairs – one in the jeep, one in my purse, one on the back patio bar, etc. That way, I’ve always got a pair on hand when I need them!

I prefer dresses for the summer, shorts tend to mess with my thighs and I get really bad rashes from it. Your first recommendation looks pretty awesome though, I’d love to get something in like that in black and white! (I don’t necessarily look good in a lot of red)

POV: You survived your first full week back at wor POV: You survived your first full week back at work after endometriosis excision surgery… and this is what recovery really looks like. 😂

POV: You had a rough day at work, but then you rem POV: You had a rough day at work, but then you remember you’re funding your cat’s luxury lifestyle. 😹

Any other cat parents feel like they’re just employees funding their pets’ dreams? 🐱💸 #stayathomecat #stayathomecatmom #catmom #catmomproblems #catmomprobs

Tell me I’m not the only one who reads the side effects before taking a new prescription! 👇 #sideeffects #medicationsideeffects #chronicallyill #chronicillnesslife #chronicillnessmemes
Vintage Americana decor has my heart ❤️🤍💙 There’s Vintage Americana decor has my heart ❤️🤍💙

POV: being on surgery recovery leave for a month t POV: being on surgery recovery leave for a month turned me into a full-time homebody 🤣

Not me having to put on my sunglasses every time I Not me having to put on my sunglasses every time I have to chop onions because my eyes tear up so bad… 🤣

Now I need to know… does anyone else have weird kitchen hacks like this? 😂 #kitchenhacks #cookinghacks #onionhack #cookinghack #onions
Y’all already know I’ve been on a serious freezer Y’all already know I’ve been on a serious freezer meal kick lately since I unfortunately have to go back to work next week 😭 And let me tell you… having a freezer stocked full of easy homemade dinners is about to save me on those busy weeknights!

If you love easy freezer meals, homemade comfort food recipes, or make-ahead dinners for busy families, you definitely need to try this one!
