Y’all may remember when I shared all about how to freeze apple slices a few weeks ago. Well now, I am sharing one of my favorite recipes as to what to do with them after they are frozen. This slow cooker cinnamon apples recipe is the perfect fall side dish!
Not only is it a great way to use up those apple slices, but it is so yummy too! And such an easy recipe as well. Basically all you have to do is dump everything in the crockpot and then just let it cook for a few hours.
I love to make these crock pot cinnamon apples as a side dish to whenever I make some homemade chicken and dumplings. That’e exactly what I order at Cracker Barrel when I go, but trust me, this homemade recipe is way better!

Ingredients Needed To Make Crockpot Cinnamon Apples
- 6 Granny Smith apples peeled and thinly sliced (you can also use whatever fresh apples you have on hand too. Granny Smith apples will give it a more tart flavor, whereas sweeter apples will change it up and make it more sweet.)
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
- 1/8 teaspoon nutmeg
- 3 tablespoons cornstarch
- pinch salt
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter

How To Make Slow Cooker Apples
First, you need to peel, slice, and core apples if you have not done so already. Since I already froze my apple slices earlier, I can skip this step. Which is exactly why I love to freeze apple slices beforehand.

That way I can just throw them into whatever recipe I am using without all the extra hassle! Plus, you can use these versatile apple slices for any kind of recipe too.

Then, in a slow cooker, stir together the apple slices, white sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, cornstarch, and salt. Then, cut the butter into cubes and throw it into the mixture as well.

Cook on low for 4 hours, or on high for 2 hours. Serve the warm apples and enjoy! The finished product can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days.

How To Serve Crockpot Apples
Like I mentioned above, I always serve these as a side dish to whenever I make chicken and dumplings. But, you can use these delicious apples in so many ways.
Do this as an easy breakfast recipe and you can top your pancakes or waffles with these cinnamon sliced apples. They make a terrific topping for french toast too!
Or if you want them to be more of a dessert, serve them with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for a tasty treat! You can also use this recipe as apple pie filling.
I like to use my homemade pie crust recipe and these apples to create a delicious pie that is perfect for Thanksgiving dinner.
This simple recipe can be used in so many different ways! Cinnamon apples also go really well with savory dishes such as roast pork or pork chops too as a side dish. They are just perfect for fall and the apple season!
