Can y’all believe it’s fall already?! I am loving the cooler temperatures we have been having here recently. It’s inspired me to start working on some fall/Halloween porch decor. So I figured today would be the perfect time to share some of my DIY Halloween Porch Ideas!
I keep it pretty simple for Halloween, I don’t like the typical “scary” decor. Usually, I do more of a mix between fall and some Halloween and just sprinkle it around my front door and front steps of the porch.

Easy DIY Halloween Decoration Ideas
Y’all know I love a good DIY project whenever possible. Especially when it comes to decor. And I absolutely love this time of year.
I feel like we spend a lot more time out on the porch since it is a little cooler outside finally. And while doing so, I want to enjoy some cute Halloween porch decorations!
You don’t have to go all out and deck your entire porch with Halloween decor. You can keep it cute and simple, which is what I like to do!
DIY Signs
Y’all may remember a few years ago, I shared all about how to make these cool vintage inspired fall market signs. All you need is some scrap wood, black paint, and mailbox letters.
It was super easy and fun to make! You could customize these signs to whatever you want as well. I did most of them in a neutral black and white color scheme.
But, for the back porch I did it in an orange color. That way, it matched my orange pumpkins perfectly!
To style the sign, I placed it on top of a mini hay bale on our outdoor bar cart. This bar cart is in our screened in porch and it is a perfect way to customize and decorate for each specific season- Halloween included!
DIY Plant Markers
One of my favorite outdoor Halloween Decorations I’ve ever made were these cute and adorable ghost garden markers!
I shared more in detail about them over on my minimalist Halloween decor ideas blog post last year. But basically, I just cut out a ghost shape using my Glowforge Aura machine and some wood.
Then, I used white spray paint and added a sealer protectant after it was dry. And now you have super cute ghosts that can placed inside any plant, such as orange mums, outside on your porch.
You could even make them bigger and place them around your front yard, adding spotlights to them. Then, when the light shines on them, you get a nice eerie glow! There are a ton of creative ways you could use these cute little guys around your home!
DIY Jack-O-Lanterns
We all know about the viral Jack-O-Lanterns from Pottery Barn. But, who wants to spend all that money on them?! I know I sure don’t. So I came up with an inexpensive way to get the look of them for a lot less!
You can customize them however you want to as well. I love a good pottery barn dupe, don’t you?! And also, if you love the look of the Pottery Barn Jack-O-Lanterns, but don’t feel like making your own, Walmart has a really cute similar option too.
I will link them below! But, there is a small one:
And a larger one as well:
These look perfect with a battery operated candle underneath them! I love affordable Halloween porch ideas like this!
Pumpkin Topiaries
I also made these cute pumpkin topiaries a few years ago just using some old pots, styrofoam balls, hot glue, and faux pumpkins. This is definitely one of the easier outdoor Halloween decoration ideas to make! It looks perfect as front porch decor.
You can make them as big or as small as you like too. I kept mine pretty small since the pots I was using were on the smaller side, but I love the way they turned out!
Lighting Options
As I mentioned above, you can always add in the battery operated candles to the Jack-O-Lanterns. Which will definitely get you in the spooky spirit by the glow of the candlelight!
But, you could also always add in some string lights as well. You could go for a real spooky vibe and even set up a fog machine against the glow of the lights too! However, I didn’t do all that.
Like I said above, I wasn’t going all out for Halloween decorating this year. But, I did find some ceramic battery operated light up pumpkins this year too. Which again gives your home’s exterior a nice glow to get into the Halloween spirit!
Other Decor Ideas
You could always add in some Halloween wreaths to your front porch as well. That’s definitely an easy option for adding in a bit of seasonal decor.
Or use some fishing line to string some witch hats across the porch too. Corn stalks by the door gives a nice welcoming vibe to your Halloween porch.
And don’t forget adding in some faux spider webs with a giant spider for fun too! The best part about creating some DIY Halloween porch ideas, is you can customize it however you want to.
And of course, I always love going to the pumpkin patch to pick up some real pumpkins to put around my porch too. That’s always an easy, last minute Halloween decor idea!
Who doesn’t want their porch filled with large pumpkins, right?! I hope all these ideas I have listed above gives you some inspiration on how you can enjoy this spooky season.
As you can see, they are all easy Halloween front porch ideas that really anyone can do! So enjoy all this festive Halloween decor inspiration and start decorating your porches for Halloween night too! I’d love to hear your DIY Halloween porch ideas below too!
