POV: You survived your first full week back at wor POV: You survived your first full week back at work after endometriosis excision surgery… and this is what recovery really looks like. 😂

I officially made it through my first full week back to work after a month-long surgery leave, and whew… the post-op fatigue is NO joke.

Every evening has looked pretty much the same: clock out, soak my aching body in a scorching hot bath, grab my heating pad, put on my weighted eye mask, and immediately take a cat nap before I can even think about making dinner or doing anything around the house. 😴

I knew recovering from endometriosis excision surgery would take time, but I didn’t expect the exhaustion to hit this hard after returning to work. My body is definitely reminding me that healing isn’t always a straight line.

Right now, this little recovery routine is getting me through:
💛 Hot bath
💛 Heating pad on full blast
💛 Weighted eye mask (shoutout to @nodpodofficial)
💛 Emergency evening nap

Thankfully, it’s finally the weekend, and I can focus on resting and recharging before doing it all over again next week.

If you’ve had endometriosis excision surgery, how long did the fatigue last for you after returning to work? Please tell me this part doesn’t last forever! 😂👇

This first week back at work has been ROUGH, y’all. I miss being home with my fur babies more than anything. Honestly, I think my true calling in life is being a stay-at-home cat mom. 🐾

But unfortunately, someone has to pay for the treats, toys, fancy food, and all the other necessities required to maintain this luxury cat lifestyle. And that someone is me. 😅

The funniest part? I don’t even think little Miss Riley misses me. As long as the food bowl stays full and the treats keep coming, she’s perfectly content living her best life while I’m out here working my butt off. 🤣

Anyone else with a chronic illness immediately Goo Anyone else with a chronic illness immediately Google every possible side effect before starting a new medication? Because I swear if there’s a rare reaction listed, somehow I’m the lucky winner. 🤣

Being chronically ill means I’ve tried my fair share of medications over the years, and my body always seems to have a mind of its own. If a medicine is supposed to make people sleepy, I’ll be wide awake all night. If there’s a tiny chance of an adverse reaction, somehow I’m usually that tiny percentage. 😅

So starting a new medication is always a little nerve-wracking for me. Part of me is hopeful it’ll finally provide some relief, and the other part is preparing for whatever random side effect my body decides to throw my way.

Here’s hoping this one actually helps my symptoms without adding a whole new list of problems. 🤞😂

Vintage Americana decor has my heart ❤️🤍💙 There’s Vintage Americana decor has my heart ❤️🤍💙

There’s just something about decorating with old red, white, and blue treasures that makes a home feel extra cozy for summer. I love styling my dining room shelves with vintage Americana pieces, antique finds, and patriotic decor that can stay up from Memorial Day all the way through the Fourth of July and beyond!

Give me all the weathered flags, vintage crocks, old books, and classic Americana touches. 🇺🇸

I know some people pack away their patriotic decorations after July 4th, but I love leaving my summer patriotic decor out all season long. It just feels timeless to me!

Honestly, staying home healing after surgery has taught me one thing… I never want to leave my house again 😂 Being cozy at home with my cats, resting, binge watching shows, and avoiding the outside world has been absolutely glorious. I truly understand the “stay at home cat mom” lifestyle now lol.

At this point, I have everything I need right here at home. Peace, comfy clothes, snacks, my pets, and zero social obligations 🤣 Meanwhile, every time I actually leave the house, I come back completely exhausted.

So the fact that I have to go back to work today after a month of recovery is honestly going to be SUCH a rough adjustment 😅 I’m not mentally prepared to rejoin society yet lol. Anyone else secretly love being home way too much?!

Honestly, I’ve been struggling with the thought of Honestly, I’ve been struggling with the thought of going back to work while still recovering from surgery. Between the physical healing and the emotional side of post-surgery recovery, I’ve been feeling pretty down lately. So this comedy date night ended up being exactly what I needed.

We bought tickets to see @johnbcrist months ago, long before I had any idea I’d be spending a month on surgery leave. Turns out the timing couldn’t have been more perfect. This was our third time seeing him live, and he absolutely delivered. I laughed so hard that for a couple of hours, I completely forgot about returning to work, ongoing recovery, and all the stress waiting for me next week. 🤣

Before the show, we had dinner at @redgingerasianbistro and finished the night with dessert at @timesbarandcoffee which made the whole evening even better. Good food, lots of laughs, and quality time with my husband was exactly the distraction I needed.

Sometimes healing isn’t just about physical recovery. Sometimes it’s about finding little moments that remind you how good it feels to laugh again. ❤️

Have you ever had a random night out come at exactly the right time? #johncrist #johncristcomedy #comedyshow #datenightideas #asheville
Not me having to put on my sunglasses every time I Not me having to put on my sunglasses every time I have to chop onions because my eyes tear up so bad… 🤣

Ever since I had LASIK surgery a few years ago, chopping onions has been brutal on my eyes. I’m talking instant tears the second I start cutting them 😂 Apparently my eyes became extra sensitive afterward, and honestly it’s been a struggle ever since.

But then I heard about the “wear sunglasses while chopping onions” hack and y’all… why does it actually work?! 😅 So now anytime my hubby isn’t home to take over onion duty, you can catch me in the kitchen wearing sunglasses indoors looking ridiculous but tear-free 😎

If you’ve ever wondered how to stop crying while cutting onions, consider this your sign to try the sunglasses trick! It may look silly, but it seriously helps block those onion fumes from hitting your eyes 👏

Now I need to know… does anyone else have weird kitchen hacks like this? 😂 #kitchenhacks #cookinghacks #onionhack #cookinghack #onions
Y’all already know I’ve been on a serious freezer Y’all already know I’ve been on a serious freezer meal kick lately since I unfortunately have to go back to work next week 😭 And let me tell you… having a freezer stocked full of easy homemade dinners is about to save me on those busy weeknights!

One of my all-time favorite freezer meals is this homemade chicken pot pie recipe 🥧✨ It definitely takes a little extra work, especially if you make the homemade pie crust from scratch; but trust me, it is SO worth it. The creamy chicken filling, flaky buttery crust, and cozy comfort food vibes make it one of the best dinners ever.

Anytime I make homemade chicken pot pie, I always make two: one for dinner now and one freezer meal for later. And this time, I took my extra frozen chicken pot pie to my sweet mama after her surgery yesterday 💛 It’s honestly the perfect meal to bring someone recovering from surgery, welcoming a new baby, or just going through a hard season because all they have to do is pop it in the oven for an easy homemade comfort meal.

If you love easy freezer meals, homemade comfort food recipes, or make-ahead dinners for busy families, you definitely need to try this one!

I can’t believe it’s officially been one month sin I can’t believe it’s officially been one month since my endometriosis excision surgery. Honestly, I really thought by now I’d be coming on here saying I finally felt like myself again. I wanted this surgery to be the answer so badly. But the truth is… I’m still struggling every single day.

The lower back pain, hip pain, chronic fatigue, GI issues, insomnia, dizziness, and POTS-like symptoms are all still here. And while my surgeon was absolutely wonderful and removed the endometriosis she found, we’re now starting to realize there may be something more going on underneath it all.

Right now we’re exploring possibilities like EDS, MCAS, and POTS, which honestly feels overwhelming because getting doctors to truly listen and take women seriously can feel like a full time job in itself. I know so many women with chronic illness, endometriosis, and invisible illnesses understand exactly what I mean.

But even though I’m discouraged, I’m not giving up. I know my body, I know something still isn’t right, and I’ll continue advocating for myself until I get answers. And if sharing my story helps even one woman feel less alone in her own health journey, then it’s worth it 🤍 #chronicillnessawareness #chronicillnesswarrior #endometriosis #endometriosisexcision #chronicallyill

Vintage Christmas Home Tour 2022

I can’t believe it’s Christmas already! And it dawned on me that I haven’t shared a vintage Christmas home tour with you all yet either. And I have been meaning to!

So I am sorry for the delay, but I figured better late than never right? I hope you enjoy my little tour and hopefully it will give you some inspiration for next year’s Christmas decorations too!

Living Room Christmas Tree

Vintage Christmas Living Room

We recently changed things up pretty big in our living room. We got a set of vintage leather sofas and replaced our old white sectional in here.

Vintage Leather Sofa in Living Room
Here are the new vintage leather sofas!

I have to say, at first I wasn’t really loving them. I thought they were a little too orange in color. But now, they have really grown on me. I love the style to them and the bead detailing.

View of living room into kitchen

Also, the cool thing about them is that they can be used with or without the back cushions as well. So you can have two completely different looks with just one sofa!

Vintage 7-Up Crate
I love how this vintage 7-Up crate is the same color as the leather too!

I will say though I don’t love all the red Christmas decor with it. In my opinion, I think it clashes. But I am pretty OCD when it comes to things like that.

Side View of Christmas Living Room

Next year, I want to replace all my red Christmas decor and do more of a gold and copper theme. I think that would really make the vintage sofas pop! So I am definitely going to be hitting up a lot of after Christmas sales!

Another new thing to our living room this year is this vintage side table that I restored with some Fusion Mineral Paint! I plan on sharing a full tutorial on how I did that soon. So be on the lookout for that tutorial!

I just love the shape to it, and it fit in our corner perfectly!

And I wrapped my presents just like last year too. I just can’t get over the vintage lace and ribbon! Most of the wrapping paper and supplies I got from Zulily and Amazon as well!

Christmas Entryway

I kept everything on our Christmas entryway the same. Although the paint and gold sconces are different than last year. You may remember that we did a whole entryway refresh at the beginning of this year too.

The vintage ceramic Christmas tree pops better against the darker color too. If you remember, the previous wall was white as well. So it kinda blended in more last year.

Love my vintage ceramic Christmas tree! I got it from Vintage Market Days last year!

Vintage Christmas Kitchen

Now, it’s time for the kitchen in my vintage Christmas home tour! I always love displaying my old Christmas dishes!

Vintage Christmas Place Setting
The cutest little Christmas tea cup!

I usually always do a vintage Christmas tablescape on my bar in the kitchen. The old dishes only came with four place settings, so I didn’t have enough for my full dining room table.

It’s the perfect set up for our bar area!

I also love to display a few Christmas touches to our tiered trays in the kitchen too. It makes for a festive centerpiece on our island.

Christmas Coffee Bar

And now my all time favorite Christmas place to style, my coffee bar! Y’all know I always love to style my coffee bar. But Christmastime is my very favorite!

Vintage Christmas Coffee Bar

I also really love the vintage Santa mugs I hang on the hooks too. It took me a few years to find enough to hang up there!

Vintage Christmas Dining Room

I kept my Christmas tablescape pretty much the same as last year too. I just loved it so much, I didn’t want to change it up any!

Vintage Christmas Tablescape

You’ll notice that I keep my vintage ironstone dishes on my tablescape a lot and reuse them almost every season. They are just timeless and classic and go with any kind of decor!

Another one of my favorite things to decorate each season are my open shelves in my dining room. It’s the perfect place to display all my vintage goodies!

As usual, I had to have my two pencil trees in my bedroom this year too. I love the cozy glow it brings to the space!

I shared more about how to style a Christmas bedroom on my blog a few years ago, so be sure to go check that out too!

Vintage Christmas Office

One of my favorite rooms in the whole vintage Christmas home tour, is my office! I love to sit in here and write next to the pretty Christmas tree!

Vintage Christmas Office View

And I have plenty of other vintage touches in here as well. Such as the vintage postcards in my inbox/outbox mailer. And the vintage Christmas card on my flower frog. You knew it had to be one with cats, didn’t you?!

You can also see my cute office assistant down below too. Toby loves to be in the office working with me!

You can also see above that I have my favorite Tree Farm candle from Antique Candle Co. burning in the office as well. I always gotta have one burning during the Christmas season!

And, I found some more vintage Shiny Brite ornaments this year and decided to display them in my dough bowl I love the grayish blue color to them!

Christmas Guest Bedroom

I also am obsessed with our Christmas guest bedding! It has cats all over it, which you know is right up my alley!

Flocked King of Christmas Tree in Bedroom

Another new edition to the guest bedroom is my olive tree! And it is actually real! So let’s hope I am able to keep it alive until next Christmas too!

Well, I hope you all enjoyed my little vintage Christmas home tour! I threw it together really quickly and only made it time by just one day before Christmas!

But, I hope you also have a wonderful Christmas and enjoy spending it with family friends! And as always, I am so appreciative of all of you stopping by my blog! Merry Christmas!

I really love that clock, it’s so unique! I really like the couch color, it really does look vintage without looking worn out, I would have guessed that it was basically new. I like the 7up crate, I also just like wooden crates in general, I just don’t have them because I am prone/unlikely to splinters for some reason. I really like how you decorated with mostly white, with pops of red and green, and the idea od replacing red with gold next year sounds amazing.

Comment “RECIPE” below and I’ll send you my homemade chicken pot pie recipe! 🥧 #chickenpotpie #chickenpotpies #freezerfriendly #freezerfriendlymeals #comfortfoods
So instead of using the actual truck bed for two 1 So instead of using the actual truck bed for two 12-foot trees, he somehow decides cramming them into my SUV is the better option 🤣 And I’m still shocked they even fit. Barely 😅

Meanwhile, his shiny new truck is sitting safe and spotless in the garage where not a single speck of dirt or potting soil can touch it 😂🚙

Tell me I’m not the only wife dealing with this kind of logic?! 🤦🏼‍♀️😂 #marriagehumor #povreels #funnymarriage #husbandwifecomedy #husbandwifejokes
