A few weeks ago, I shared my home office nook ideas with you all. So this week, I decided to share my living room nook ideas too. Especially since I have the perfect spot for a nook in my living room.
There are so many possibilities and ideas for how you can style your nook area, but I will try to share all my easy tips and tricks with you all.
That way, if you have an awkward nook space, you can gain some ideas and inspiration from this post. I love a good, cozy living room, and I think having a nook space helps achieve that.
Especially if you have an unused corner. Why not put it to good use and create something with it?! Just like in my home office, I decided to create a reading space.
I honestly don’t know which one is my favorite reading nook between the two. And really, you can’t ever have too many reading nook ideas right? The more the merrier in my opinion!
And even if you have a small space, you can still create a cozy reading nook with just a few touches. There is nothing I love more than curling up with a good book and a cup of coffee and enjoying the reading area!
So if you have a small corner in your living space that needs a few updates, check out all my great options below to help you get started!

Start With A Statement Chair
I will say, I think I love my comfy chair in my living room nook more so than my office one. Mainly because it’s bigger and definitely makes a statement in the area.
I would say when you are first styling your nook space, that you want to find some great accent chairs to go with it. But, also make sure it is a comfortable chair too because you actually want to spend time enjoying the space too.

We found this vintage leather chair and ottoman from a local reseller and I am so glad we got this piece! It’s kind of like a window seat since it is nestled between two big windows and has a ton of natural light, which is perfect for reading!
If you have a larger spot, you could even add in some corner sofas and make it more like a whole sitting room instead of just a little cozy nook too.

Pick A Floor Lamp
Even though this cozy space has a ton of natural light, I still wanted a lamp for extra lighting at night. And if it looks familiar to you, that’s because it is!
It is technically the same exact lamp that is in my home office nook, but it is a slightly different color. If you find something you love, you might as well get another one, right?!
If you don’t have room for a floor lamp, you could always add in some wall sconces or a fun little pendant light hanging from the ceiling too. Just anything extra to add some good lighting to the space will work!
Add Some Open Shelving
Next, I added some open shelving above my cozy chair and floor lamp. You could also make some built-in shelves if you wanted to and had the dedicated space for that.
I would love to add in some built-ins somewhere in my home eventually for like a wall bookcase, but I just didn’t really have the space to do so here.
But, even though it is a small nook space, the open shelves I found work perfectly here. So don’t worry if your nook is on the smaller side, you can easily find solutions! Just look around and see what kind of open shelves or shelving would work best for your space.
Styling The Shelves
Now, for the fun part, decorating! Since this is a book nook, I love to add in some vintage books! I mainly just read books on my Kindle now, so I don’t really have a personal library of books.
Plus, I like the way vintage and old books look better. But, you could totally add all of your favorite books and display them on the shelf instead too.
I also add in some decorative objects to the shelves as well. Such as vintage candlesticks, small wall art, and other vintage knickknacks like an old camera I found while antique hunting in Johnson City a few years ago.

It’s fun to display treasures like that, while remembering the fun trips you took to get them. You may remember my home office nook shelves are dedicated to our love of Charleston and all of our many fun trips we have taken there.
Add A Small Table
Now depending on whether or not you have enough space, you could always add in some kind of table next to your chair. If it’s a larger room, you could always put a coffee table next to your chair.
That way, you have a spot for your favorite book and cup of tea or coffee! Or you could add in just a small side table, which is what I did here.

Again, this table was a piece I found while antique hunting, and I actually turned it into a cute plant stand instead. So adding in a little greenery too can always make it a more cozy spot for you to enjoy!

Enjoy Your Living Room Nook!
