One thing people don’t talk about enough is how ch One thing people don’t talk about enough is how chronic illness doesn’t just affect the person who’s diagnosed, it changes the lives of the people who love them, too. ❤️

Living with an invisible illness can feel incredibly isolating, but having a supportive spouse has made all the difference in my journey. Through countless doctor appointments, unanswered questions, difficult days, and moments when I’ve felt like giving up, my husband has been my biggest advocate, my safe place, and my constant source of strength.

I know not everyone has that kind of support, and my heart truly goes out to anyone navigating chronic illness on their own. No one should have to carry that weight by themselves.

To every caregiver, spouse, partner, family member, or friend who continues to show up with patience, compassion, and love; you matter more than you know. Thank you for making the hard days a little easier. 🤍

But seriously though, one sip and you’ll see why this cozy fall drink is a fan favorite. Made with warm apple cider, cinnamon, caramel, and whipped cream, it tastes like autumn in a cup, and the best part? There’s no coffee, so it’s perfect for kids and anyone who isn’t a coffee drinker!

I finally shared my easy Starbucks copycat Caramel Apple Spice recipe on the blog, and it’s so simple to make at home whenever those fall cravings hit. 🤎 Comment “Recipe” below and I’ll send it straight to you!

Have you ever tried a Starbucks Caramel Apple Spice before, or will this be your first time? Let me know below! 👇🏻 And don’t forget to save this recipe for cozy season and share it with your fellow fall lovers!

At this point I’m convinced I either have a weirdly shaped face or gravity just has a personal vendetta against me. 😂

It’s honestly one of my biggest pool day pet peeves because I can never stay comfortable long enough to tan my back. So while the front of me is getting plenty of sunshine, the back is staying pale because I’m constantly giving up and rolling back over. ☀️🤣

Apparently they decided to leave me exactly 4 cherry tomatoes and half a cucumber today. How thoughtful. 🤣

But wait until the end because you’ll see the sweetest little baby deer… and honestly, how am I supposed to stay mad after that?! 🥹❤️ They can have all the cherry tomatoes they want.

The only sad part? I haven’t harvested a single heirloom tomato this year because the deer keep eating them before they’re ripe enough to pick. 😅 I guess my garden has officially become a wildlife buffet.

If you’ve been following my chronic illness journe If you’ve been following my chronic illness journey for a while, you already know how many doctors, specialists, tests, and appointments I’ve been through. Time after time, I was told I was “fine,” “everything looks normal,” or that it was “just anxiety.”

But after my appointment with @carolina_functional_neurology, I finally felt heard.

They agreed that what I’ve been experiencing is not normal. They believe I have POTS, and they also think there could be other neurological issues that need to be investigated. After years of questioning myself because of medical gaslighting, hearing a doctor validate my symptoms was something I’ll never forget.

At this point, I don’t think one Netflix documentary would be enough to cover this whole journey. 🤣

The saddest part? I know so many of you have messaged me saying you’ve experienced the exact same thing. It’s heartbreaking how common medical gaslighting has become, especially for people living with chronic illness or invisible illnesses.

So if you’re still searching for answers, this is your reminder: don’t stop advocating for yourself. Keep asking questions. Keep pushing for second opinions. Keep fighting for the care you deserve.

You know your body better than anyone else.

And if you’ve been medically gaslit too, I want you to know you’re not alone. ❤️

The stars of this business venture, Toby and Riley, have fully consented to the arrangement (by accepting treats), and they strongly support me staying home so I can dedicate more time to serving their every need. 😜

Honestly, with content this cute, retirement might be closer than I thought. 🤣

Yesterday felt like a turning point. 🤍 We drove t Yesterday felt like a turning point. 🤍

We drove to Charlotte to see a functional neurologist, and for the first time in a long time, I left an appointment feeling heard instead of dismissed.

After listening to everything I’ve been experiencing and putting me through what they jokingly called the “Brain Olympics” 😂 (seriously…SO many neurological tests), they agreed that my symptoms are not normal. They also agree that I likely have POTS, which honestly brought so much validation after everything I’ve been through.

The testing also showed signs that something may be going on with my cerebellum that’s causing my autonomic nervous system to misfire. Because of that, they want me to get a brain MRI to investigate further, including looking for things like Chiari malformation. They’re also ordering additional bloodwork and testing for celiac disease to make sure nothing else is contributing to everything I’ve been experiencing.

Am I nervous? Absolutely.

But for the first time in a very long time, I also feel hopeful.

I know none of these are answers yet, but having a doctor who believes me, listens, and is committed to figuring this out means more than I can explain. After years of wondering if I was just imagining things or being told my tests were “normal,” that validation alone feels like a huge win.

Thank you to everyone who has checked on me, prayed for me, encouraged me, and shared your own experiences. Your support has helped me keep pushing for answers when it would’ve been easier to give up.

I’m taking this journey one step at a time, and I’ll continue to keep you all updated. ❤️

Have you ever had to fight to get a doctor to truly listen to you? I’d love to hear your story in the comments. 👇

I hope y’all had the best Fourth of July! ❤️🤍💙 We had the sweetest, low-key Independence Day celebrating at home, and honestly… it was one of my favorite holidays yet.

We spent the afternoon relaxing by the pool, then my hubby smoked his famous ribeyes for a delicious family dinner. 🥩(comment “Recipe” below if you want me to send it your way! 😉) After that, we hopped on the golf cart and drove around until we found the perfect spot to watch the Fourth of July fireworks near our house. 🎆

Getting to enjoy an incredible meal, beautiful fireworks, and all the patriotic fun without fighting the big crowds? I’d call that a total win! 🙌🏻 There’s just something so special about simple summer nights spent with the people you love.

Now I have to know… did you stay home this year or go out to celebrate? 🇺🇸❤️

DIY Plant Stand Refresh With Black Dog Salvage Paint

I recently came across this old, antique plant stand when we were out antique shopping during our last Pigeon Forge trip. I thought it was beautiful, but it could really use a little TLC. So I thought I would share this easy DIY Plant Stand Refresh I did with Black Dog Salvage Paint.

This was my first time using this paint, and I am excited to tell you all about it! It really made a huge difference once I painted it! And I also love the compact size to this plant stand too. So if you have a small space or a compact space, it can easily fit there or anywhere else in your home!

If you’re looking to refresh an old plant stand (or really any piece of old, antique furniture), or need any DIY plant stand ideas, then be sure to keep on reading for my full step-by-step tutorial! It’s such a fun way to bring an old piece new life again! Y’all know I am all about repurposing and up cycling old pieces just like this. So this is another one I can add to my finished collection too!

Material List For DIY Plant Stand Refresh

Old, antique plant stand

Paint (As I mentioned above, I used Black Dog Salvage Paint in Black Dog)

Topcoat (I used Guard Dog Matte)

Paintbrushes

Danish Oil (I used Dark Walnut, or you could use your favorite wood stain here too)

Old Wooden Plant Stand
This is what the plant stand looked like before.

Sand Down The Old Plant Stand

The first step in this process is to sand down the wood plant stand. I used our electric sander for this part. Having an electric sander is definitely one of the more necessary tools when it comes to DIYing. I strongly dislike anything I have to hand sand!

Before Refreshing Plant Stand
And this is what the very top of the plant stand looked like before sanding it down.

I honestly hate sanding in general, but I do love painting. So I try to buckle down and get through the sanding part to get to the fun part!

Starting to Sand

I wanted to sand down the surface of the wood on top until it was completely unfinished. I thought a two-toned look would be great for this plant stand. If you remember, I did a similar look when I created our DIY Corner Table for the living room too.

Sanding Down Pieces of Wood

I focused a lot of time and energy on the top of the plant stand to get it sanded down perfectly. Then, for the middle and the base of the plant stand, I just lightly sanded it down.

In Progress of Sanding

Really, you just need enough to get the top coat off, that way you can easily paint it. And the paint adheres better to the surface if it doesn’t have a top coat on it. So sanding is definitely a necessary evil when it comes to re-doing furniture pieces like this!

Sanded Down Table Top

Clean Off The Plant Stand

After sanding, you are definitely left with a little bit of a mess. So be sure to clean off the plant stand after. You don’t want a bunch of wood dust mixed into your paint!

That would not make for a cute look! To clean the plant stand, I just used a wet rag and thoroughly wiped every surface of the plant stand down. I then let it dry completely before painting.

I also noticed my plant stand was a little wobbly, remember it is an antique piece! So I thought I may need a little wood glue on the bottom where there was a crack upon first inspection. But, honestly, after painting it and everything, it seemed fine. I think it was just more wobbly when I was sanding it down because I was applying so much pressure to it.

And in reality, it will not have that much pressure on it when some simple house plants are sitting on top of it!

Black Dog Salvage Furniture Paint

Painting The Plant Stand

Now here is the fun part of this simple tutorial! Painting the piece! As I stated above, I used Black Dog Salvage Pain in the color Black Dog for this piece. I thought the two toned contrast would look best with a dark, striking color on the bottom of the piece.

Painting the piece honestly took just a little time compared to sanding the piece! And I also stated above that this was my very first time using the brand Black Dog Salvage, and I have to say I am very impressed with it!

In Progress Of Refreshing Plant Stand

It is important to note that their paint is water-based acrylic/latex paint so that means it cleans up easily with soap and water. Which is perfect for a simple wooden plant stand like this! No worries if you spill anything on the painted piece, it will wipe right up!

The paint also requires that you gently stir it, not shake it. Which was a learning curve for me because I am used to shaking my paint! I felt like I didn’t stir it enough when I was painting my first coat on. So for the second coat, I really focused on stirring it well before painting!

After Painting With Black Dog Salvage Paint

The paint coverage the piece wonderfully and only took two coats total. It might have only taken me one coat to begin with if I actually stirred it well enough the first time. Also, I was painting outside in direct sunlight with sunglasses on, so after viewing it in the shade, I realized I missed a few places!

After I finished painting the piece, I let it dry/cure for 24 complete hours. That is the minimum amount of time recommended before adding in the top coat.

Adding The Top Coat To The DIY Plant Stand

When using Black Dog Salvage paint, it is important to note that their paint must be top coated to protect the painted surface. So I used their Guard Dog Matte for this project. This is a water-based polyurethane and is their toughest topcoat they offer.

Which means the top coat would be perfect for a side table or coffee table too! Basically any piece that gets a lot of traffic like that. The only thing to keep in mind, though, is that this top coat may amber over time with lighter colors.

DIY Side Table

They do offer another top coat option called Show Dog that does not do this. However, since I was putting it over an already painted black piece, I was not worried about the amber coloring. Just know there are other options if you do have a lighter colored piece!

Also, if you wanted to wax the piece after applying the top coat, you definitely could do that too. I decided I liked the way my simple plant stand looked without the wax, so I skipped that part. But, it is totally fine to apply wax over the top coat as well in case you were curious.

And, if you want to try out Black Dog Salvage paint for your next DIY project too, they were nice enough to give me a coupon code too! Just use MORNINGS20 for 20% off your order! How amazing is that?! I highly recommend you try them out too!

Wooden Plant Stand By Window

Staining The Wood

Now, for the final part of this DIY plant stand project, staining the wood on top! I used Danish Oil in Dark Walnut for the pieces of wood on top of the plant stand.

Applying the Danish Oil

And, the end result was incredible! I love the way it came out! To apply the Danish Oil, simply apply a small amount onto a rag and then use circular motions to apply it onto the piece of wood as well!

Adding Danish Oil To Top of Plant Stand

I let it dry overnight before bringing it up and placing a plant on top of it!

Styling Your DIY Plant Stand

I decided to place my plant stand next to my vintage leather chair in my reading nook which is in my living room. It is the perfect place for an indoor plant stand!

Plant Stand in Reading Nook

I also placed one of my favorite plants I have on top of it for display. I got the Hoya Tri Color Plant from Easy Plants, and if you haven’t heard of them before, I am about to blow your mind!

Completed DIY Plant Stand
A close up of my Hoya Tri-Color Plant!

You only have to water these plants once a month and that’s it! Can you believe it?! So anyone can have their own plant with this technology, even if you have a black thumb! Be sure to go check them out if you’re looking for some new indoor plants. Plus, they deliver straight to your door too! It’s the easiest way to build your plant collection!

DIY Wood Plant Stand Completed

And, you can show them all off by having an amazing DIY plant stand like this one! I love how it turned out and it was honestly such an easy way to refresh an old piece! It’s the perfect modern plant stand, and I think it looks great in my reading nook space!

DIY Plant Stand Ideas

What do you all think?! And to top it all off, this simple project only took me one weekend to complete! So it is not time consuming at all and it’s always a great idea to repurpose an old piece with some paint! And really the only hard work to it, was the sanding in my opinion!

DIY Plant Stand Refresh
Pin for later!

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial and I hope you’re able to refresh your own DIY plant stand using paint in the future! And please let me know if you try out Black Dog Salvage Paint or Easy Plants in the future too. I’m telling y’all, both are complete game changers!

Whether you’re painting old furniture, or displaying house plants, you will love both these companies for sure! Have a wonderful day my friends and thanks so much for stopping by!

No matter what style, brand, or pair of sunglasses I buy, they ALWAYS slide down my nose the second I lay on my stomach. 🤦‍♀️ I’ve tried expensive ones, cheap ones, trendy ones—you name it. Same result every time!

Please tell me I’m not the only one! Do your sunglasses slide down your nose too, or have you found a magical pair that actually stays put? 👇😎

POV: You spend months growing a vegetable garden… POV: You spend months growing a vegetable garden… just to realize you’re actually gardening for the neighborhood deer. 😂🌱🦌

Tell me I’m not the only one… What keeps eating your garden? Deer, squirrels, rabbits, or something else? ⬇️

🚨 BIG ANNOUNCEMENT 🚨 I’ve decided to start an Onl 🚨 BIG ANNOUNCEMENT 🚨

I’ve decided to start an OnlyPaws account so I can finally quit my job and become a full-time stay-at-home cat mom. 😹

I mean, who wouldn’t pay premium content prices to see adorable cat toe beans, fluffy paws, and exclusive behind-the-scenes footage of two spoiled indoor cats living their best lives? 🐾😂

Anyone else flip the switch to fall mode the secon Anyone else flip the switch to fall mode the second the Fourth of July is over? 🍂😂

Don’t get me wrong, I still love summer, pool days, and sunshine. But there’s just something about fall that has my heart. The cozy vibes, cooler weather, pumpkin everything, fall candles, football Saturdays, and not melting the second you step outside? Yes, please! 🤎🍁

Don’t worry… I’m not decorating for fall just yet (I’m trying to be patient 😅), but that doesn’t stop me from dreaming about all the fall decor, cozy nights, and crisp autumn days ahead!

Now I have to know… are you Team Fall 🍂 or Team Summer ☀️? Let the debate begin!

POV: The perfect Fourth of July doesn’t have to be POV: The perfect Fourth of July doesn’t have to be extravagant. 🇺🇸
