We recently just got back from a wonderful trip to the Great Smoky Mountains! So I thought it would be fun to share with you all things to do in Gatlinburg in March.
There are so many fun things you can do, you will probably have a hard time fitting them all in for just a weekend! I know we did!
And if you’ve been around here long enough, then you may remember how we used to have a camper at Outdoor Resorts in Gatlinburg as well.
So we are no strangers to the area and it really is a home away from home. We had such a great time staying there, and we will definitely be back.
And if you’re planning a trip in the month of March, listen up! I will be sharing all the best things to do and see while you are there.

Where To Stay In Gatlinburg
There are a lot of options when it comes to lodging in Gatlinburg. But I will say, the place we stayed at this past time, was absolutely amazing!
We were within walking distance to downtown Gatlinburg. Which is always a plus because parking can be a little tricky down there.

And you can never really find free parking anywhere. The room we stayed in was so spacious and even had a balcony to enjoy the beautiful mountain views.
We stayed at Embassy Suites By Hilton in Gatlinburg and I highly recommend! The property was beautiful as well and had some great amenities. Such as a lazy river, pool with a slide, hot tubs, and an indoor pool too.

They even offered other outdoor activities such as corn hole. And they had some amazing gas fire pits where you could just sit and relax and enjoy the evening.

We spent every evening by the fire there actually and it did not disappoint! Plus, they even have an onsite restaurant, Roaring Fork, and the food there was incredible.
It’s a nice option to have after walking the streets of Gatlinburg all day. It was good to just stay in and not have to travel back out for dinner.

But, if cozy cabins are more your style, there are definitely plenty of those in Gatlinburg too. A vacation cabin is always a good idea for a big group of people! Just check out some of the local cabin rentals there and see which one fits your needs best.
However, if you’re looking for more of a hotel vibe, this is definitely the place to go!
What To Do In Gatlinburg
Okay so now here are all the fun things you should do while visiting Gatlinburg. You may remember too that I shared another post several year ago about things to do in Gatlinburg, no matter the time of the year.
So you may see some overlap between these two posts. But, like I said above this one is more geared for a March vacation. Which I think is an ideal time to go.
There are fewer crowds and the weather conditions were not bad at all. I was worried because I know March can be a little cold sometimes, but we actually had some warmer weather the weekend we went and it was incredible!
And I thought that maybe it might be some people’s spring break, so it would be crowded, but it wasn’t really at all. So definitely look at the entire month of March and see when you can squeeze in a little Gatlinburg trip. It’s definitely worth it!
Gatlinburg Skypark
I think one of the best things you can do is visit Gatlinburg Skypark while you are visiting. We did this before several years ago, but they have expanded the park even more since the last time we went.

It’s a great place to get the best view of the heart of Gatlinburg! You get to take the chair lift up to the top and then cross the swinging bridge. And the middle of the bridge is clear glass so you can see all the way down.

Probably not the best idea if you’re scared of heights, but hey, talk about some memorable experiences for sure! And once you cross the bridge, you can get some of the best views of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park and surrounding area from there as well.

So it’s totally worth it. The Skypark also offers 1.5 miles of hiking trails and a restaurant for smash burgers on site. So if you work up an appetite, you can enjoy a burger while taking in all the views!
Anakeesta
Another cool spot to check out while in Gatlinburg is Anakeesta. This amusement park is located right on top of the mountains so the views are breathtaking.
This theme park has something for the whole family. They offer many outdoor adventures such as zip lines, gem mining, mountain coasters, a skywalk, shopping, and much, much more.
It’s also a perfect place to eat and take in the scenic mountains around you. They have several dining options as well.
Plus, you get to take the chondola up the mountain to get there so it’s one of the best places to go for mountain views.
It’s definitely the highest point you can go to view the heart of the Smoky Mountains! We used to go all the time when we had our camper and absolutely loved it!
Gatlinburg Attractions
If you just walk up and down the streets of Gatlinburg, you will find plenty of things to do. Such as Ripley’s aquarium, Ober Gatlinburg, Cades Cove, Ole Smoky moonshine tasting, exceptional wine tastings, and the iconic Hillbilly golf.

There are also special events such as crafts show and craft fairs for the crafts community. So there really is something for guests of all ages here.

We also dropped by Jason Aldean’s for a quick lunch and you may remember from my Nashville Trip a few years ago, that we went there too! It’s a fun spot to enjoy some live music and good food for sure!
Where To Eat In Gatlinburg
Like I mentioned above, we actually just stayed at the hotel most nights for dinner because it was just so good! But, we did venture out a little to eat.
Our first night we had one of our favorites, Calhoun’s. And they have some amazing wings and fries. It’s always been one of our go-to’s.

And for breakfast, you gotta go to Pancake Pantry! But for shorter wait times, you better go early because it gets super busy there.

We also ate at Crockett’s Breakfast Camp and Five Oaks Farm Kitchen for breakfast too and both places were really good.

If you have a sweet tooth, then you definitely need to check out The Donut Friar in downtown Gatlinburg as well. It’s one of the best places around for local donuts!

Pigeon Forge
And, if you want even more out of your trip to Gatlinburg, you should drive into the Pigeon Forge area too.
It’s not far from Gatlinburg and they have several things to do for people of all ages there as well. Such as Tanger Outlets, indoor snow tubing, and many live dinner shows for an immersive experience.

We actually went into Pigeon Forge for the Chevys in the Smokies car show. My husband loves old cars like that so he was in heaven looking at all of them.

And I have to say, it wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. I enjoyed looking at the antique cars too. So if you’re a car show lover too, March is a perfect time to visit!
