But social media rarely shows everything. What you didn’t see was my heart pounding every time I carried my beach bag down to the sand. Feeling so dizzy and nauseous that I had to run back to the condo just to throw up. You learn how to smile through the symptoms. You push through when you can. You rest when you have to. How to Make DIY Christmas Ornaments to Sell

If you’re looking for a fun way to make a little extra money this holiday season, then look no further! I’ve got you covered. Today I will be sharing all about how to make DIY Christmas ornaments to sell!

These are not only super fun to make, but simple as well. And once you get the hang of making your own ornaments, it doesn’t take much time at all. Plus, you can be as creative as you want to with this. I am just sharing a few simple ideas to help you get the ball rolling.

But really, there are tons of options when it comes to homemade ornaments. And even if you don’t want to sell them, you can still apply all these steps I am sharing here for your own DIY Christmas decorations. Or you could just make some as great Christmas gifts too!

Really, the possibilities are endless and making your own ornaments can be so fun and rewarding! I find it to be relaxing when I am crafting and making things like this. That’s why I am always trying to come up with another fun DIY project like this! Keep on reading to see just how easy and simple creating your own ornaments can be!

DIY Ornaments to Sell

This post also contains affiliate links, which means I make a small commission off anything you purchase through here, at no additional cost to you. Please read my full disclosure policy for more details.

What Do I Need To Create My Own Christmas Ornament To Sell?

For this post today, I will be using my Glowforge Aura Machine. But, no worries if you do not have a laser cutting machine like this. I have shared a few posts in the past about DIY ornaments that do not require a Glowforge.

Before Engraving Ornaments
I found a super cheap pack of wooden ornament blanks to get started with when making my own DIY Christmas ornaments to sell!

Such as salt dough ornaments, DIY mercury glass ornaments, vinyl coated ornaments, and a DIY wood bead ornament. So as you can see from that list, there are several other ways to make a DIY ornament to sell. You don’t have to use a Glowforge!

Masking Wooden Ornament
I always mask my pieces with tape before engraving though!

But, for this purpose I am because I think a really key selling feature to easy DIY Christmas ornaments, is the engraving option. Who doesn’t want a pretty, personalized Christmas ornament?!

Since most people do not have the option to engrave their own things, if you can provide this service for them, it is a game changer! And if you are planning to be a part of small businesses, you probably have your own Etsy shop or something similar to that as well.

Hand Painted Ornament
Before Engraving Ornament with Glowforge

You could even start small and start selling things on Facebook Marketplace or other online marketplaces if you don’t have your own shop yet. Or even just on your social media accounts too. That’s a great way to see how things go first before diving into the e-commerce world!

Making DIY Ornaments to Sell

I started my own Etsy shop a few months ago. More so as a fun hobby. Sure, I’d love to make full time income with it, but it is hard to juggle all the things since I do currently work full time! It’s more of a creative outlet for me. Which I enjoy because I can share all my DIY Christmas gifts and crafts just like this with you all!

I will actually share the listing to these DIY Christmas Ornaments from my Etsy shop below as well. That way you can kind of get an idea on How to Make DIY Christmas Ornaments to Sell too. Just click on the picture below and it will take you to the listing directly.

Where To Start Making Your Own Ornaments

I actually found a set of cheap wooden Christmas ornaments at Hobby Lobby this year. They were already pre-cut, which makes it even easier. But, I will link some similar to the ones I found here for you too:

And, if you can’t find any near you, you can always just cut out an ornament shape using Proofgrade material in your machine as well. However, I wanted to paint mine so having them pre-cut already saved me a little time!

DIY Laser Engraved Ornament

I used an antique gold color from Fusion Mineral Paint, which y’all know is my favorite! You could also use any kind of acrylic paint that you wanted to use as well. After letting the paint completely dry, I placed some masking tape over it. That way, it doesn’t get scorch marks on it when engraving it.

Laser Engraved Christmas Ornament

Then, I just used a pre-made design in my Glowforge App that would allow me to customize the name for each ornament. I love the intricate designs of the Christmas trees on top of the ornament! To make mine, I just added our last name to the ornament, then sat back and let the machine do its work! I love how easily customizable these homemade Christmas ornaments can be!

Hand Painted Ornament

Depending on your skill level, you could create your own designs, or look for some free Christmas SVGs that you can use too. I always opt for someone else creating my SVGs that I use because I have not mastered creating my own yet! Maybe one day I can though!

Finishing Ornament Touches

Once you have engraved your ornament, you can always add a little more to it, that way it gives it more of a personal touch. Think about doing a ribbon loop with a pretty patterned ribbon. Or add a pre-tied bow on there with a dab of hot glue too.

When you are thinking of all your DIY Christmas ornament ideas, keep in mind the craft supplies you will need for them too. Like I said, I got this 6 pack of pre-cut wooden ornaments for pretty cheap, and I was able to create a lot of different patterns and ideas from just this one pack. You definitely want to get the most bang for your buck when shopping!

It’s always a great idea to hit up your local Dollar Store for all the craft supplies you may need since they are so affordable. It’s also a great place to get little clear glass ornaments if you’re making crafts with those too!

DIY Personalized Ornaments

Other DIY Ornament Ideas

You could easily do this process on a wood slice too. Or even just engrave some initials or a Christmas tree on it to keep it super simple. There are so many options and unique ideas to think about when creating these adorable ornaments!

I would just start out making a few and see what resonates best with your audience. Then, you can slowly start adding more to your collection too. This Christmas ornament side hustle can be such a great way to earn a little extra cash this Christmas season! You could use it to buy a few Christmas presents for family members too.

Ornamnets to Sell

Plus, it’s just a great way to get in the holiday spirit! Be sure to check out and see if there are any Christmas markets or local craft fairs going on near you where you could rent a booth and sell all your handmade ornaments too! That’s a great way to get your name out there and start being recognized for future sales.

I hope you all enjoyed this little tutorial on how to make and sell these easy Christmas ornaments! And I hope you’re able to make your own this Christmas time too! It’s such a creative way to enjoy this festive season!

Pin for later!

POV: You planned your beach vacation during Shark POV: You planned your beach vacation during Shark Week because obviously all the sharks are busy filming TV. 😂🦈

In case you didn’t know… Shark Week is the safest week to go to the beach because all the sharks are away on TV right now, so there’s absolutely no chance of getting bitten. (Don’t fact-check me. 🤣)

Looks like we accidentally picked the perfect week to visit Dirty Myrtle! 🌊☀️

Who’s heading to Myrtle Beach this summer? And be honest… are you team “I’ll still get in the ocean” or team “I’ll admire it from the sand”? 😂

I’ll never say no to a sunset cruise in Myrtle Bea I’ll never say no to a sunset cruise in Myrtle Beach! There’s just something about watching the sun melt into the ocean while the breeze hits your face that makes you forget about life’s chaos for a little while.

And honestly? I needed that.

With everything that’s been going on lately, this was exactly the reset my heart needed. For a couple of hours, all I had to worry about was whether I wanted another drink and if we were going to see dolphins. 😂

So yes… call it Dirty Myrtle all you want, but she gave me gorgeous sunsets, peaceful ocean views, and memories I’ll be replaying long after vacation is over.

Now excuse me while I spend the next six months trying to convince my husband we need to move somewhere that has sunsets like this every night. 🤣

Who’s team Dirty Myrtle… and who’s still refusing to admit it’s actually kind of fun? 👇🏻😉
