POV: being on surgery recovery leave for a month t POV: being on surgery recovery leave for a month turned me into a full-time homebody 🤣

Honestly, staying home healing after surgery has taught me one thing… I never want to leave my house again 😂 Being cozy at home with my cats, resting, binge watching shows, and avoiding the outside world has been absolutely glorious. I truly understand the “stay at home cat mom” lifestyle now lol.

At this point, I have everything I need right here at home. Peace, comfy clothes, snacks, my pets, and zero social obligations 🤣 Meanwhile, every time I actually leave the house, I come back completely exhausted.

So the fact that I have to go back to work today after a month of recovery is honestly going to be SUCH a rough adjustment 😅 I’m not mentally prepared to rejoin society yet lol. Anyone else secretly love being home way too much?!

Honestly, I’ve been struggling with the thought of Honestly, I’ve been struggling with the thought of going back to work while still recovering from surgery. Between the physical healing and the emotional side of post-surgery recovery, I’ve been feeling pretty down lately. So this comedy date night ended up being exactly what I needed.

We bought tickets to see @johnbcrist months ago, long before I had any idea I’d be spending a month on surgery leave. Turns out the timing couldn’t have been more perfect. This was our third time seeing him live, and he absolutely delivered. I laughed so hard that for a couple of hours, I completely forgot about returning to work, ongoing recovery, and all the stress waiting for me next week. 🤣

Before the show, we had dinner at @redgingerasianbistro and finished the night with dessert at @timesbarandcoffee which made the whole evening even better. Good food, lots of laughs, and quality time with my husband was exactly the distraction I needed.

Sometimes healing isn’t just about physical recovery. Sometimes it’s about finding little moments that remind you how good it feels to laugh again. ❤️

Not me having to put on my sunglasses every time I Not me having to put on my sunglasses every time I have to chop onions because my eyes tear up so bad… 🤣

Ever since I had LASIK surgery a few years ago, chopping onions has been brutal on my eyes. I’m talking instant tears the second I start cutting them 😂 Apparently my eyes became extra sensitive afterward, and honestly it’s been a struggle ever since.

But then I heard about the “wear sunglasses while chopping onions” hack and y’all… why does it actually work?! 😅 So now anytime my hubby isn’t home to take over onion duty, you can catch me in the kitchen wearing sunglasses indoors looking ridiculous but tear-free 😎

If you’ve ever wondered how to stop crying while cutting onions, consider this your sign to try the sunglasses trick! It may look silly, but it seriously helps block those onion fumes from hitting your eyes 👏

Now I need to know… does anyone else have weird kitchen hacks like this? 😂 #kitchenhacks #cookinghacks #onionhack #cookinghack #onions
Y’all already know I’ve been on a serious freezer Y’all already know I’ve been on a serious freezer meal kick lately since I unfortunately have to go back to work next week 😭 And let me tell you… having a freezer stocked full of easy homemade dinners is about to save me on those busy weeknights!

One of my all-time favorite freezer meals is this homemade chicken pot pie recipe 🥧✨ It definitely takes a little extra work, especially if you make the homemade pie crust from scratch; but trust me, it is SO worth it. The creamy chicken filling, flaky buttery crust, and cozy comfort food vibes make it one of the best dinners ever.

Anytime I make homemade chicken pot pie, I always make two: one for dinner now and one freezer meal for later. And this time, I took my extra frozen chicken pot pie to my sweet mama after her surgery yesterday 💛 It’s honestly the perfect meal to bring someone recovering from surgery, welcoming a new baby, or just going through a hard season because all they have to do is pop it in the oven for an easy homemade comfort meal.

If you love easy freezer meals, homemade comfort food recipes, or make-ahead dinners for busy families, you definitely need to try this one!

I can’t believe it’s officially been one month sin I can’t believe it’s officially been one month since my endometriosis excision surgery. Honestly, I really thought by now I’d be coming on here saying I finally felt like myself again. I wanted this surgery to be the answer so badly. But the truth is… I’m still struggling every single day.

The lower back pain, hip pain, chronic fatigue, GI issues, insomnia, dizziness, and POTS-like symptoms are all still here. And while my surgeon was absolutely wonderful and removed the endometriosis she found, we’re now starting to realize there may be something more going on underneath it all.

Right now we’re exploring possibilities like EDS, MCAS, and POTS, which honestly feels overwhelming because getting doctors to truly listen and take women seriously can feel like a full time job in itself. I know so many women with chronic illness, endometriosis, and invisible illnesses understand exactly what I mean.

But even though I’m discouraged, I’m not giving up. I know my body, I know something still isn’t right, and I’ll continue advocating for myself until I get answers. And if sharing my story helps even one woman feel less alone in her own health journey, then it’s worth it 🤍 #chronicillnessawareness #chronicillnesswarrior #endometriosis #endometriosisexcision #chronicallyill
Since I’ve been home recovering from surgery and g Since I’ve been home recovering from surgery and getting ready to head back to work next week, I’ve been stocking my freezer with all my favorite freezer-friendly meals, and this crockpot spaghetti sauce is always at the top of the list 🍝❤️

This easy slow cooker spaghetti sauce recipe is seriously my all-time favorite comfort food. There’s nothing better than a big plate of spaghetti with homemade meat sauce, especially when the crockpot does all the work for you! Just toss everything in, let it simmer low and slow all day, and your house smells AMAZING 🤤

One of the best parts? This recipe makes a huge batch, so I always freeze extra for easy weeknight dinners later on. Just thaw, heat, and dinner is basically done 🙌 Perfect for busy work weeks, meal prep, freezer cooking, and easy family dinners!

Tips on How to Keep Your Home Cozy After Christmas

If you’re wondering if you can still have a cozy home after all the Christmas decor is down, then the answer is yes! I have outlined a few tips on how to keep your home cozy after Christmas.

You can use these ideas if you’re still craving the cozy glow feeling of Christmas. The Christmas tree may be put up, but that doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice that feeling!

Learn how to make your home cozy and implement it all year round! Especially during these harsh Winter months!

Keep your Greenery and Plain Trees Out as Winter Decor

One of my biggest tips for how to keep your home cozy after Christmas is to keep out your plain trees and greenery. I still have a lot of my plain bottle brush trees out and I think they look perfect for Winter.

I didn’t want to jump straight into Spring decor, so I think having a lot of deep greens out around the house makes it feel more cozy while still keeping in touch with the season.

Using pine or evergreen needles are a great way to do this as well. You can display them in a jar or a vase or anything simple, the possibilities are endless!

I am also leaving my pine garland in my dough bowl out a little longer too. I think it’s the perfect step before getting into Valentine’s or Spring decor.

Plain Trees For Winter Decor
As you can see I left my favorite bottle brush trees up on my shelves to enjoy a little longer throughout the winter season!

Use a lot of Texture

I like to add texture in mainly by using pillows and blankets. I love a good cable knit throw and decorative pillow.

You can also use faux furs to make everything feel more warm and cozy inside too. Another thing I like to do is to add a basket with a wicker or seagrass texture to place all my extra pillows and blankets inside of in the living room.

That way you can just grab a blanket whenever you need that extra warmth and it keeps things nice and tidy when you are not using them.

I always love to grab a few textured blankets from TJ Maxx or Homegoods. Especially after Christmas when they have some pretty good sales going on!

Textured Reading Nook
Love all the texture here in this reading nook. From the cable knit blanket, leather chair, and wicker basket, there is plenty to choose from!

Also, my office rug has a lot of texture here as well. You can always use rugs for some added texture in rooms too. Especially if you want to layer them together.

Having a rug in a room that has all wooden floors really helps to warm and cozy up the room!

Use Warm Wood Tones

We have a lot of white and light gray colors in our home so I love to use wooden tones to balance it out.

Having a wooden piece of furniture against a white shiplap wall really pops and it also makes it feel more cozy and homey inside.

It’s also another good texture to use around the home. I love the contrast it gives and it’s so easy to do just by adding a simple wooden bowl or tray to any room in your home.

Warm Wood Tones
I love all the wooden tones of the antique rolling pins against the bright white subway tile.

Wood Toned Coffee Table
Here you can see how I use a lot of warm wood tones in my living room.

Find Ways to Use Cozy Lights

Whether they are string lights or a lamp, find a way to use something other than just regular overhead lighting.

Just having that lighting alone can feel too much and I like to have a soft glow from another light source instead when I am at home relaxing.

I love to have the glow of a candle burning too.

Antique Candle Co in Office
Here is one of my favorite candles from Antique Candle Co!

Not only does it make your space smell great, but it makes it look more cozy too! My favorite candle to have burning are my Antique Candle co candles. Click here to learn more about those if you’re interested!

I have also used string lights in lanterns or even in my centerpiece in my dining room to help keep a cozy glow in the house all year round.

Cozy Lights
Not only is the light from the fire super cozy, but so are the string lights I added around the candle in the lantern.

I hope these simple tips on how to keep your home cozy after Christmas have inspired you and I hope you are able to make your home feel more cozy after reading this.

There’s nothing better than coming home from a hard days work to a nice, comforting and cozy home! Let me know if you try out any of these ideas, or if you have an idea that I didn’t mention above.

I would love to hear them and I hope you all have a cozy day my friends!

Cozy is SO important this time of year. I love curling up under comfy blankets in front of our fireplace and watching the snowfall outside. We haven’t taken our tree down yet, so I will relax by tree light. That being said, I think I need to incorporate some fairy lights into our living room if I love that ambiance so much!

These are all great ideas, I have also read that adding a candle and spices aromas help with the cozy environment…

This is full of great ideas. I just moved South last month so Christmas is very different here. When I was up North I would keep everything with snowflakes and snowmen out for the winter season as my “winter decorations”. Thanks for sharing even more ideas!

Have you ever had a random night out come at exactly the right time? #johncrist #johncristcomedy #comedyshow #datenightideas #asheville

So instead of using the actual truck bed for two 1 So instead of using the actual truck bed for two 12-foot trees, he somehow decides cramming them into my SUV is the better option 🤣 And I’m still shocked they even fit. Barely 😅

Meanwhile, his shiny new truck is sitting safe and spotless in the garage where not a single speck of dirt or potting soil can touch it 😂🚙

Tell me I’m not the only wife dealing with this kind of logic?! 🤦🏼‍♀️😂 #marriagehumor #povreels #funnymarriage #husbandwifecomedy #husbandwifejokes
