I absolutely love to cook and bake so another big part of my blog is easy, southern recipes that I have grown up on and continue to still cook for my family. If that sounds like you too, then you will love all these recipe ideas. Or if you’re simply just looking for ideas on what to cook or bake, then you will find a ton of inspiration here!
I try not to share anything too complicated, but basic dishes that can be made year round. Another thing I love to share is seasonal recipes! I am all about a themed dinner or dessert and you will definitely find that on my blog as well.
Although cooking and baking aren’t the main focus of my blog, I still love to share some of my favorite recipes with you all so that you can enjoy them too. After all, Mornings on Macedonia is DIY, Decor, & More! So the recipes definitely fall into the “More” category, don’t you think?!
What Are Traditional Southern Dishes?
Most of my tried and true recipes come from my sweet Meme. These southern dishes we have been cooking up for generations upon generations. Especially all the Thanksgiving side dishes such as Broccoli Casserole and Sweet Potato Casserole.
Another one of my very favorites is Southern Egg Custard Pie. Trust me, you are in for a treat if you’ve never had that before!
And nothing screams summer recipes to me more than southern potato salad and fried squash! Also, my homemade fried squash goes amazingly well with freshly canned green beans too!
Speaking of canning, my Meme and I make the BEST homemade raspberry jelly and can it so we have plenty to snack on year after year!
Seasonal Recipes
As I mentioned above, I am a HUGE fan of some seasonal recipes. You’ll probably find more of those on my blog more so than everyday recipes. Which makes sense considering I love seasonal decor too!
One of my favorite times to bake is during the fall season. Just give me all the pumpkin recipes please! I love to make Paula Deen’s Ooey Pumpkin Cake every year. And if you haven’t made that before, you definitely need to jump on it!
I also love to create seasonal charcuterie boards such as my fall dessert charcuterie board I made this past year. I love how you can easily customize them and it can really be a no-bake recipe too!
And I like to combine baking and gifting as well. As you can see from this easy Christmas cookie gift idea below too.
Or you could also make your own homemade elderberry syrup to gift to someone you love too!
One of my favorite gifts we got this past year was a Solo Stove Pi Pizza Oven. So we have definitely been enjoying making our own wood fired pizzas at home now too!
Well, I hope you enjoyed this little snippet as to what to cook from Mornings on Macedonia blog. There is so much more to explore as well so be sure to take a good look over on my recipe page as well!
