POV: being on surgery recovery leave for a month t POV: being on surgery recovery leave for a month turned me into a full-time homebody 🤣

Honestly, staying home healing after surgery has taught me one thing… I never want to leave my house again 😂 Being cozy at home with my cats, resting, binge watching shows, and avoiding the outside world has been absolutely glorious. I truly understand the “stay at home cat mom” lifestyle now lol.

At this point, I have everything I need right here at home. Peace, comfy clothes, snacks, my pets, and zero social obligations 🤣 Meanwhile, every time I actually leave the house, I come back completely exhausted.

So the fact that I have to go back to work today after a month of recovery is honestly going to be SUCH a rough adjustment 😅 I’m not mentally prepared to rejoin society yet lol. Anyone else secretly love being home way too much?!

Honestly, I’ve been struggling with the thought of Honestly, I’ve been struggling with the thought of going back to work while still recovering from surgery. Between the physical healing and the emotional side of post-surgery recovery, I’ve been feeling pretty down lately. So this comedy date night ended up being exactly what I needed.

We bought tickets to see @johnbcrist months ago, long before I had any idea I’d be spending a month on surgery leave. Turns out the timing couldn’t have been more perfect. This was our third time seeing him live, and he absolutely delivered. I laughed so hard that for a couple of hours, I completely forgot about returning to work, ongoing recovery, and all the stress waiting for me next week. 🤣

Before the show, we had dinner at @redgingerasianbistro and finished the night with dessert at @timesbarandcoffee which made the whole evening even better. Good food, lots of laughs, and quality time with my husband was exactly the distraction I needed.

Sometimes healing isn’t just about physical recovery. Sometimes it’s about finding little moments that remind you how good it feels to laugh again. ❤️

Have you ever had a random night out come at exactly the right time? #johncrist #johncristcomedy #comedyshow #datenightideas #asheville
Not me having to put on my sunglasses every time I Not me having to put on my sunglasses every time I have to chop onions because my eyes tear up so bad… 🤣

Ever since I had LASIK surgery a few years ago, chopping onions has been brutal on my eyes. I’m talking instant tears the second I start cutting them 😂 Apparently my eyes became extra sensitive afterward, and honestly it’s been a struggle ever since.

But then I heard about the “wear sunglasses while chopping onions” hack and y’all… why does it actually work?! 😅 So now anytime my hubby isn’t home to take over onion duty, you can catch me in the kitchen wearing sunglasses indoors looking ridiculous but tear-free 😎

If you’ve ever wondered how to stop crying while cutting onions, consider this your sign to try the sunglasses trick! It may look silly, but it seriously helps block those onion fumes from hitting your eyes 👏

Now I need to know… does anyone else have weird kitchen hacks like this? 😂 #kitchenhacks #cookinghacks #onionhack #cookinghack #onions
Y’all already know I’ve been on a serious freezer Y’all already know I’ve been on a serious freezer meal kick lately since I unfortunately have to go back to work next week 😭 And let me tell you… having a freezer stocked full of easy homemade dinners is about to save me on those busy weeknights!

One of my all-time favorite freezer meals is this homemade chicken pot pie recipe 🥧✨ It definitely takes a little extra work, especially if you make the homemade pie crust from scratch; but trust me, it is SO worth it. The creamy chicken filling, flaky buttery crust, and cozy comfort food vibes make it one of the best dinners ever.

Anytime I make homemade chicken pot pie, I always make two: one for dinner now and one freezer meal for later. And this time, I took my extra frozen chicken pot pie to my sweet mama after her surgery yesterday 💛 It’s honestly the perfect meal to bring someone recovering from surgery, welcoming a new baby, or just going through a hard season because all they have to do is pop it in the oven for an easy homemade comfort meal.

If you love easy freezer meals, homemade comfort food recipes, or make-ahead dinners for busy families, you definitely need to try this one!

I can’t believe it’s officially been one month sin I can’t believe it’s officially been one month since my endometriosis excision surgery. Honestly, I really thought by now I’d be coming on here saying I finally felt like myself again. I wanted this surgery to be the answer so badly. But the truth is… I’m still struggling every single day.

The lower back pain, hip pain, chronic fatigue, GI issues, insomnia, dizziness, and POTS-like symptoms are all still here. And while my surgeon was absolutely wonderful and removed the endometriosis she found, we’re now starting to realize there may be something more going on underneath it all.

Right now we’re exploring possibilities like EDS, MCAS, and POTS, which honestly feels overwhelming because getting doctors to truly listen and take women seriously can feel like a full time job in itself. I know so many women with chronic illness, endometriosis, and invisible illnesses understand exactly what I mean.

But even though I’m discouraged, I’m not giving up. I know my body, I know something still isn’t right, and I’ll continue advocating for myself until I get answers. And if sharing my story helps even one woman feel less alone in her own health journey, then it’s worth it 🤍 #chronicillnessawareness #chronicillnesswarrior #endometriosis #endometriosisexcision #chronicallyill
Since I’ve been home recovering from surgery and g Since I’ve been home recovering from surgery and getting ready to head back to work next week, I’ve been stocking my freezer with all my favorite freezer-friendly meals, and this crockpot spaghetti sauce is always at the top of the list 🍝❤️

This easy slow cooker spaghetti sauce recipe is seriously my all-time favorite comfort food. There’s nothing better than a big plate of spaghetti with homemade meat sauce, especially when the crockpot does all the work for you! Just toss everything in, let it simmer low and slow all day, and your house smells AMAZING 🤤

One of the best parts? This recipe makes a huge batch, so I always freeze extra for easy weeknight dinners later on. Just thaw, heat, and dinner is basically done 🙌 Perfect for busy work weeks, meal prep, freezer cooking, and easy family dinners!

How to Create An Easy Basket Wall

If you’re wondering how to create an easy basket wall for your home, then this post is for you! I am sure you have seen one of the newest home decor trends on Instagram or Pinterest: a basket wall.

I am not sure who started the trend and who thought it would be a great idea to hang random baskets on the wall, but I gotta say I LOVE it.

I decided to do an easy basket wall in our bedroom and I am so happy with how it turned out. It literally only took a few minutes and it makes such a statement on our wall.

I am so happy with how it turned out! If you’re wondering how to achieve this look in one of your rooms at home, then keep on reading to see just how easy it is and how it transforms a space!

DIY Basket Wall
Here you can see my finished basket wall!

Coming Up With A Gameplan

I decided to do my basket wall a little differently. I wanted to have that beautiful, handmade reclaimed barn wood sign as the center to it.

I’ve seen many amazing basket walls that just have baskets placed on the wall and no signs with them, but I wanted mine to have a little bit of a different look to it.

I originally had that sign hanging above our bed, but I wasn’t happy with it’s location there. It was too small of sign for it to be the focal point above our bed.

But, it is the perfect size to be a focal point for my basket wall, which is on the wall to the left side of our bed. So I was still able to incorporate that sign in our bedroom, which is what I wanted all along.

Easy Basket Wall
Here is a close up of the finished product!

Where To Start To Create Your Easy Basket Wall

To start your own basket wall, you have to be on the hunt for random sized baskets. I started collecting them a few months before we actually made the basket wall.

I wanted to be sure I had enough before we hung them on the wall. I had no rhyme or reason to picking them out. If I saw one I liked, I would simply just buy it.

I like the way the baskets look when they are all random shapes, sizes, and colors.

Some great places to find baskets at:

  • Antique Stores
  • Thrift Stores
  • Facebook Marketplace
  • Goodwill
  • Amazon
  • Kirkland’s (these may be a little more pricey, but you can find a matching set more easily at a big box store like this)

If you’re wanting to stick with a similar style of basket for your wall, then it may take a little longer to find them all. But don’t give up your vision!

Even though I didn’t have a specific style of basket I was looking for, it still took about 6 months to find them all and hang them all up.

However, I wasn’t looking all the time either. I would just occasionally pick up one or two when I saw them at a store.

The good news is you can find these baskets pretty cheap so it is a great way to cover up wall space without spending a fortune!

I think most of the baskets I got were only like $2 and the most expensive one I got was maybe like $10, and it is the biggest one on the wall. So it definitely isn’t hard to invest in a basket wall!

Basket Wall

How To Hang The Baskets On The Wall Easily

I didn’t really have a set way that I wanted to hang the baskets up. I just knew I wanted to have the sign in the middle of the wall and somehow place the baskets around it in a pleasing pattern.

So basically all I did to achieve that was lay it all out how I wanted in the floor and then took a picture of it so I could remember where to put each basket.

Then, I just had my hubby help me hang everything where I wanted it. We just put one nail through the center of each basket and it was enough to hold them up since they weren’t very heavy.

If you have bigger and heavier baskets, you may want to secure it more with another nail but that’s totally up to you!

There wasn’t a specific science to the way I hung them up. If you wanted to be more precise, you definitely can.

You could always trace the size of the baskets out with kraft paper and arrange the paper pieces on the wall with painters tape the way you like them.

And then, you can hang each basket up after you take the paper down one by one.

Pin for later!

Conclusion

However you want to hang up your basket wall is totally up to you! I didn’t want to bother with all those extra steps of hanging up kraft paper and then having to take it down.

I say the less steps, the more easier it is to come up with your basket wall. I think the way we did it- just by eyeballing it- turned out just fine!

So there you have it! That’s literally all you have to do in order to create your own basket wall! It was such an easy DIY project but it has such a great outcome.

I love all the texture it adds to our bedroom and it really fills up that wall space so well! Have you all ever done a basket wall before? If so, I would love to hear about it! And if not, you should definitely try it out!

What a great focal /decor piece for your wall. I would never think of having a basket display that like, but it looks so effective. I love the natural look you have gone for as well, means that you can add pops of colour later down the line if you decide to change it up!

    Thanks for the inspiration!

So instead of using the actual truck bed for two 1 So instead of using the actual truck bed for two 12-foot trees, he somehow decides cramming them into my SUV is the better option 🤣 And I’m still shocked they even fit. Barely 😅

Meanwhile, his shiny new truck is sitting safe and spotless in the garage where not a single speck of dirt or potting soil can touch it 😂🚙
