Plot twist: Riley’s biological mom is still part o Plot twist: Riley’s biological mom is still part of the family too! 😹🐾

A few years ago on Valentine’s Day morning, my mom discovered a mama cat and her three kittens on her front porch. As a lifelong cat lover, there was absolutely no way I wasn’t bringing one of those sweet rescue kittens home once she was old enough. And that’s how Riley became part of our family. ❤️

Fast forward to today, and Riley has grown into the funniest, sassiest, most personality-filled cat I’ve ever had. She’s definitely not a lap cat, and she makes you work for every ounce of attention and affection, but somehow that just makes me love her even more. 😂

The best part? My mom ended up keeping Riley’s mom, Smoke, while finding loving homes for all the other kittens. So Riley’s mama is still around, and we get to see her from time to time. 🥹🐱

It feels like this whole rescue cat story was just meant to be. ❤️

As someone who deals with chronic lower back pain and everyday stress, I count down the days until my next appointment!

Sure, it’s not a permanent fix, but even a little relief can make a huge difference. I always leave feeling more relaxed, less tense, and ready to take on life again (or at least survive another work week 😜).

If you’ve ever struggled with chronic pain, muscle tension, or stress, you know how amazing that post-massage feeling is!

After all the money we’ve spent on raised garden beds, soil, plants, fertilizer, and supplies, this little pepper is basically worth its weight in gold! 😂 But honestly, there’s nothing more rewarding than walking outside and harvesting fresh vegetables from your own backyard garden.

And let me tell you… this pepper was DELICIOUS! 🙌 Now I’m anxiously waiting for our cucumbers, squash, and tomatoes to really start producing. There’s just something so exciting about watching a vegetable garden grow and finally getting to enjoy the fruits (and veggies!) of your labor.

Apparently, if I had actually read the product description, I would have known that. But who has time for details when you’re busy adding things to your cart? 😂

After a LOT of fluffing, shaping, and styling, though, these faux hanging ferns turned out so good! I love using artificial hanging baskets on our porch because they’re completely low-maintenance, stay green year-round, and don’t require me to climb a ladder every few days to water them. As someone who’s vertically challenged, that’s a major win. 🤣

If you’re looking for realistic faux outdoor plants, easy porch decorating ideas, or low-maintenance outdoor decor, I highly recommend giving these a try!

I’m especially excited that we finally got our flower beds refreshed and ready for the season! 🌸🐦 The colorful blooms have already started attracting hummingbirds, and watching them dart around the flowers from inside the house each morning has quickly become one of my favorite parts of the day.

Maybe it’s my socially awkward, overthinking brain. Maybe it’s because I spend 99% of my free time at home and have fully embraced my introvert era. Or maybe it’s the fact that every time I meet someone new, I replay the entire conversation in my head for the next 3-5 business days. 🤣

And while I’ve never been officially diagnosed as neurodivergent, let’s just say some of those traits hit a little too close to home. 🧠😂

I officially made it through my first full week back to work after a month-long surgery leave, and whew… the post-op fatigue is NO joke.

Every evening has looked pretty much the same: clock out, soak my aching body in a scorching hot bath, grab my heating pad, put on my weighted eye mask, and immediately take a cat nap before I can even think about making dinner or doing anything around the house. 😴

I knew recovering from endometriosis excision surgery would take time, but I didn’t expect the exhaustion to hit this hard after returning to work. My body is definitely reminding me that healing isn’t always a straight line.

Right now, this little recovery routine is getting me through:
💛 Hot bath
💛 Heating pad on full blast
💛 Weighted eye mask (shoutout to @nodpodofficial)
💛 Emergency evening nap

Thankfully, it’s finally the weekend, and I can focus on resting and recharging before doing it all over again next week.

If you’ve had endometriosis excision surgery, how long did the fatigue last for you after returning to work? Please tell me this part doesn’t last forever! 😂👇

Easy Fall Decor Refresh

How many of you have old tubs full of decor that you don’t use anymore?! I know I do, and I was trying to come up with a way to repurpose it. That’s when I decided to do this easy fall decor refresh.

All you need is some old fall decor that you don’t use anymore and a little paint! So super easy and simple! And it totally transforms the look of the decor pieces.

Before Photo
Here is what the old plates and pumpkins looked like before I went to work!

Materials Needed:

  • Old fall decor pieces (such as old pumpkins or old plates like I am using above!)
  • Spray Paint (I recommend Rust-Oleum!)
  • Other Paint (to paint decor a different color if desired. I used Fusion Mineral Paint)
  • Drop-cloth
  • Paintbrushes
Getting Ready for Fall Decor Refresh
You can easily pop the stems off of the faux pumpkins, that way it makes it easier to paint!

Getting Your Old Fall Decor Prepped

The first thing you need to do is gather all your old fall decor pieces that you want to give new life to! I chose to use those two leaf plates above and some old pumpkins that no longer matched my current fall color scheme.

These leaf plates were actually from our wedding (since we had an October wedding) and I’ve kept them ever since.

I just didn’t like the color to them anymore since they didn’t match anything else I was using in the house.

I’m glad I kept them all these years because it’s sentimental and now I can actually use them in my fall home decor too!

Before painting them, I just washed them really well in warm, soapy water to remove any dirt/debris. Then I dried them and brought them outside to get ready to spray paint.

As far as getting the pumpkins prepped, all I did was remove the stem. Which you can see pictured above. That way I didn’t get any spray paint on the stem.

They easily go back into the pumpkin after your done painting them, or you could always use a dab of hot glue as well to secure it even more.

Spray Painting Pumpkins
I was definitely trying to go for a more neutral fall vibe this year and didn’t want so many bright fall colors in my decor.

Painting The Old Fall Decor

Now here is the fun part to any project- paint! Painting is such a great way to refresh old fall decor. Instead of throwing things out, it’s a cheaper option to just refresh it with a little paint.

The spray paint I used for the leaf plates is Rust-Oleum Painter’s Touch Spray Paint in white. The one I got is both a paint and a primer so it was perfect for this project.

I only had to spray one full coat on each side of the leaf plates and the coverage on the spray paint was amazing!

After applying one full coat, I just had to go back and touch up a few areas with the paint. It’s always best to apply spray paint in one continuous stroke to avoid dripping.

And also be sure to share it up vigorously before using too!

COTTAGES & BUNGALOW FLAT 30% OFF ON DIGITAL SUBSCRIPTION

This was my very first time actually using this spray paint and I am very pleased. I will definitely use it again for other projects.

It was also the only cost in this little fall decor refresh project I had too. Since I already had everything else, this was the only thing I was lacking.

Refreshing Fall Leaf Plates
Here is what the plates look liked after apply the spray paint to them.

Painting The Old Pumpkins

For the pumpkins, I did the same thing as above for the plates. I applied one coat of the spray paint to basically just prime it.

I knew I wanted to paint my pumpkins a different color rather than just leaving them white. But you could totally just spray paint them and be done with it if you would prefer!

Spray Painted Pumpkin
Here is what the pumpkins looked like after applying a coat of spray paint first.

After I spray painted them and they dried, I applied Fusion Mineral Paint to them as well. I used the colors Bayberry and Lichen.

I had to apply a few coats of paint to each pumpkin. Then after they dried completely, I dry brushed the opposite color on them as well to give it a little more dimension.

I talked about this more in depth in my other post about DIY Painted Pumpkins so if you want to know more, go check that one out.

Painting Old Pumpkins

Using The Refreshed Fall Decor

I decided to use my spray painted leaf plates on my tablescape this year. Since I had two, it was perfect because I just placed one on each end of the runner.

Also, my tablescape is pretty neutral so since they were painted white, it fit right in!

Refreshed Fall Plates
Here is just a sneak peek of my fall tablescape this year. I will be sharing more about it soon so stay tuned!

For my painted pumpkins, I decided to use them in my cloche I got from Antique Farmhouse. I have it sitting on my entryway table as well.

I love how the pumpkins are more neutral now and they go perfectly with the color scheme of my entryway fall decor.

Refreshed Fall Decor
Here are all the completed pieces together!

I used a lot of pumpkins with blue/gray/green hues here so they look great with the other pumpkins I have already.

Much better than that clashing gold and orange color that the were before! I’m telling y’all, the power of a little paint is so amazing!

Conclusion

Well friends, I hope you liked this easy fall decor refresh project as much as I did. It gives me so much joy to be able to refresh and repurpose old items rather than throwing them out!

Plus, it saves me money from having to go out and buy new fall decor too! So it is definitely a win win! Have you ever done anything similar to this with your old decor pieces too? Let me know below!

This is so cute! I love how the outcome turned out. I love refreshing my old decor pieces. When I started redecorating my room and making an old room into my little office space, spray paint became my best friend! I revamped this jewelry holder that’s in the shape of a woman with this ugly hot pink cheetah dress on, took off the dress, and spray painted it rose gold. It looks so cute now!

This is such a great idea! I never would have thought of using paint to refresh old decorations, but it’s a wonderful way to use what you have without spending much money. At the same time, it can be customized to your decor, as you have done beautifully! I also realized that I could pick up some decorative items at the thrift store for very little money and paint them to match a theme. Perfect money saving project!

Yes! Going to thrift stores to find something to restore is a perfect idea too! It’s amazing what a little paint can do for sure!

Do your pets have a special adoption story too? Share it below! ⬇️🐾

There’s just something about soaking up a little vitamin D, listening to the water, and completely slowing down for a few hours. And let’s not forget the elite summer activity: the post-lunch poolside nap. 😂

These are the simple summer moments I look forward to all year long, and honestly, I wish every Friday could look like this!

Are you team pool day, beach day, or lake day? ☀️

Last year, my hubby gifted me a monthly massage me Last year, my hubby gifted me a monthly massage membership for my birthday, and honestly, it has been one of the best gifts I’ve ever received.

So tell me… are you a massage person too, or do you prefer other self-care treatments? 👇

Who else is gardening this year? 🌱 What are you growing, and what’s been your biggest success so far? Drop your garden updates below because I love seeing what everyone is growing! 👇🍅🥒🌶️

Would you choose real plants or faux plants for your porch? 🌿👇

Can we talk about how exhausting working with the Can we talk about how exhausting working with the public can be? Some days I’m convinced my true calling is being a remote work, stay-at-home employee with minimal social interaction because nothing drains my social battery faster. 😅

But here we are, another workday, another dollar, and we’re just gonna power through and get it done. 💪

Anyone else feel completely wiped out after talking to people all day, or is that just my introvert/neurodivergent brain? 🤪 #workhumor #workingwiththepublic #officehumor #relatablecontent #funnyworkmemes
Happy Sunday, friends! ☀️Sharing a few cozy Sunday Happy Sunday, friends! ☀️Sharing a few cozy Sunday stills of our front porch today because I’m absolutely soaking up this beautiful weather. There’s just something special about slowing down, enjoying some good old-fashioned porch sitting, and taking in the sights and sounds of summer. Anyone else spending time outside today?

I’m especially excited that we finally got our flower beds refreshed and ready for the season! 🌸🐦 The colorful blooms have already started attracting hummingbirds, and watching them dart around the flowers from inside the house each morning has quickly become one of my favorite parts of the day.

Between the front porch decor, blooming flowers, and warm summer sunshine, home feels extra sweet right now. ❤️

Wishing you all a relaxing Sunday filled with sunshine, fresh air, and a little time to enjoy the simple things. #sundaystills #flowerbed #flowerbeds #porchdecor #porchsitting
But can we talk about how hard it is to make frien But can we talk about how hard it is to make friends in your 30s?! Is anyone else struggling with adult friendships, or is it just me?

Maybe it’s my socially awkward, overthinking brain. Maybe it’s because I spend 99% of my free time at home and have fully embraced my introvert era. Or maybe it’s the fact that every time I meet someone new, I replay the entire conversation in my head for the next 3-5 business days. 🤣

And while I’ve never been officially diagnosed as neurodivergent, let’s just say some of those traits hit a little too close to home. 🧠😂

So if you’re also navigating social anxiety, an expired social battery, awkward small talk, and the challenge of making friends as an adult... welcome. You’re my people.

At least in my head, I’m the life of the party. 🎉🤣 #neurodivergent #neurodivergentsupport #socialanxietymemes #adultfriendships #socialbattery
POV: You survived your first full week back at wor POV: You survived your first full week back at work after endometriosis excision surgery… and this is what recovery really looks like. 😂

POV: You had a rough day at work, but then you rem POV: You had a rough day at work, but then you remember you’re funding your cat’s luxury lifestyle. 😹

Whenever I have a bad day at work, I remind myself that I need that paycheck so my cats can stay home all day, nap in peace, eat snacks, and live their best spoiled-cat lives. 😂

This first week back at work has been ROUGH, y’all. I miss being home with my fur babies more than anything. Honestly, I think my true calling in life is being a stay-at-home cat mom. 🐾

But unfortunately, someone has to pay for the treats, toys, fancy food, and all the other necessities required to maintain this luxury cat lifestyle. And that someone is me. 😅

The funniest part? I don’t even think little Miss Riley misses me. As long as the food bowl stays full and the treats keep coming, she’s perfectly content living her best life while I’m out here working my butt off. 🤣

Any other cat parents feel like they’re just employees funding their pets’ dreams? 🐱💸 #stayathomecat #stayathomecatmom #catmom #catmomproblems #catmomprobs
