- Ice
- 2 oz brewed blonde espresso (or strong coffee), cooled
- Ground cinnamon or cinnamon sticks, for topping if desired
- Ground nutmeg, for topping if desired
- Whipped cream, for topping if desired
- Caramel sauce, for topping if desired
For The Apple Simple Syrup
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup brown sugar, packed (dark brown sugar is best)
- 2 cups sliced apples (from 1-2 apples)
- ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
How to Make Crisp Oat Milk Macchiato
The first step to this delicious iced macchiato is to go ahead and make the simple syrup. First, slice the apples into thin slices. Then, place apple slices, brown sugar, water, and cinnamon into a small saucepan.
Bring to a boil and then reduce heat and let simmer for about 15-20 minutes. Basically until the mixture has thickened and the apples have softened. Strain this mixture into a bowl, being sure to press down on the apple slices to get as much of the juice out as possible.
You really want to get all the flavors of apple out! Pour mixture into a glass mason jar or similar container and let cool completely in the fridge.
The mixture will also continue to thicken as it cools as well. This apple crisp syrup gives the drink a perfect hint of apple flavor! Now to officially make this delightful Starbucks copycat recipe, fill a cup up with ice. Then, add 1 1/2 oz of the apple syrup to the bottom of the glass.
Pour creamy oat milk over the syrup. Pour cooled shot of espresso over the oat milk. You can use a couple of espresso shots if you like as well. Top with whipped cream, caramel sauce, and ground nutmeg and cinnamon if desired. For best results, enjoy immediately!
What Kind of Espresso Is Best For This Recipe?
I always like to use my Nespresso Vertuo Machine to brew shots of espresso. If you do not have an espresso machine, you can always use really strong coffee instead.
But, once you try it with regular espresso, you will be hooked! I will link my espresso maker I use below too in case you’re in the market for one!
Do I Have To Use Oatmilk?
While personally, I love oatmilk in this recipe the best, you don’t have to use it. Any kind of milk such as almond milk, cashew milk, or regular dairy milk will work just fine. It’s just a matter of preference.
I will say though that whole milk seems to froth up the best with a milk frother, so if you want frothy milk, or a little bit of milk foam, that would be best to use.
But of course to actually make the iced apple crisp oatmilk macchiato actually taste like Starbucks, using oatmilk is your best bet.
Enjoy Your Homemade Apple Crisp Oatmilk Macchiato!
I hope you enjoyed this copycat Starbucks apple crisp macchiato just as much as I did! You could even turn it into a hot macchiato too if you preferred. Just heat oat milk and the other ingredients and you’re good to go!
This really is the ultimate fall drink and a super easy recipe to go along with it. It honestly tastes like an iced apple pie to me! Which is just perfect seeing as how Thanksgiving is right around the corner. I know if you try this recipe out, it will easily become a fall favorite of your own too.
