Anyone else have facial expressions that give away Anyone else have facial expressions that give away EVERY thought in their head? 😂 Because I swear I can’t hide what I’m thinking to save my life. I may not say a word, but my face will tell the whole story anyway. 🤦🏼‍♀️

Being overly expressive is both a blessing and a curse. On one hand, people always know where they stand with me. On the other hand, it has definitely gotten me into trouble more than once! 🤣

Sometimes I think about Botox, but then I remember I’d probably lose my greatest talent: making faces when people are being ridiculous. 😜 It’s honestly a survival skill at this point.

Thank goodness I wear a mask at work because it hides at least some of my reactions! 😂

Please tell me I’m not the only one whose facial expressions expose every emotion before they even say a word. Drop a 🙋🏼‍♀️ if your face is constantly spilling the tea!

If you deal with POTS symptoms, chronic dehydratio If you deal with POTS symptoms, chronic dehydration, or heat intolerance, then you know the struggle is REAL. 😅 I feel like I’m constantly trying to stay hydrated between drinking water, adding electrolytes, and hoping my body decides to cooperate for once.

But if I’m being honest, no amount of water hydrates my soul quite like the ocean does. 🌊💙 There is just something about sitting by the beach, listening to the waves, and feeling the salt air that instantly makes me feel better.

Now, does having POTS-like symptoms mean I don’t tolerate the summer heat very well? Absolutely. 😂 But that’s a sacrifice I’m willing to make for a little beach therapy. You’ll find me parked in the water, sipping my electrolytes, pretending I’m a mermaid, and refusing to leave until further notice. 🤣

The ocean may not cure my dehydration, but it sure does wonders for my mental health. 🌊☀️

Anyone else feel like the beach is the best kind of therapy?

And also, my cute swimsuit is on sale for just $24 today too! So if you’re in need of a new swimsuit for summer, check it out! 😉

A few years ago on Valentine’s Day morning, my mom discovered a mama cat and her three kittens on her front porch. As a lifelong cat lover, there was absolutely no way I wasn’t bringing one of those sweet rescue kittens home once she was old enough. And that’s how Riley became part of our family. ❤️

Fast forward to today, and Riley has grown into the funniest, sassiest, most personality-filled cat I’ve ever had. She’s definitely not a lap cat, and she makes you work for every ounce of attention and affection, but somehow that just makes me love her even more. 😂

The best part? My mom ended up keeping Riley’s mom, Smoke, while finding loving homes for all the other kittens. So Riley’s mama is still around, and we get to see her from time to time. 🥹🐱

It feels like this whole rescue cat story was just meant to be. ❤️

My Top Picks For Styling An Outdoor Space

Now that we are finally enjoying some warmer weather, I thought it would be perfect to share with you all my top picks for styling an outdoor space around my home.

I love having multiple outdoor areas to enjoy and it gives me room to be creative when decorating and styling them all.

We have our front porch, screened in porch, back deck, and an outdoor fire pit area as our main outdoor spaces to our home.

I realize that not everyone has a lot of space for multiple outdoor areas, but hopefully you can find a few ideas from this post on how to style your space to make it both beautiful and functional for you!

Front Porch

To me, a front porch isn’t a proper front porch unless there is a couple of good ol rocking chairs on it! My house is white so I love having black rocking chairs on the front porch to make them pop!

But if you’re looking for a specific color and can’t find the right one, then don’t be afraid to paint them to make them your own!

Screened In Porch

I wanted to style my screened in porch to be a little more cozy and comfortable. We actually have a TV set up on ours too so I wanted it to feel like a true outdoor living room.

So finding cozy patio seating and pretty, but functional, throw pillows was a must for this space!

patio seatingSeating Group with Cushions // More Patio Conversation Sets

I also wanted to have nice outdoor rug to tie the whole space together. Having a rug helps anchor the patio furniture and helps to define the space. I recommend going for a fun, bold pattern!

Especially since it is an outdoor area, I feel like you can be more fun and vibrant here than you normally would be when styling an indoor space. My advice is- go all out!

area rugGeometric Outdoor Area Rug // More Outdoor Rugs

I decided to go with a rust color for my throw pillows and rugs because our outside doors are painted that color as well. I think it really helps tie everything together, and again, since our house is white, the rust color really shines against it!

throw pillowOutdoor Throw Pillow // More Throw Pillows

I definitely think you need some fun patio string lights to really make the space perfect! I would suggest placing patio lights in the outdoor space that gets the most use in your home. I didn’t want to put them on the front porch, since we don’t really sit out there when it gets dark.

But we do sit in the screened in porch area a lot so I figured the string lights would be more functional and practical here. Plus, they sure are pretty to look at!

Back Deck

Currently, the only thing I have on our back deck is a gas grill, but I am daydreaming of adding some more furniture here soon! I would love to have an outdoor dining set where we could enjoy some meals in the warm Spring and Summer months.

I would also love to include a nice, big umbrella to the dining table that way we could have some shade during those hotter evenings.

outdoor dining set7 Piece Dining Set // More Patio Dining Sets

Just adding in a dining table and an umbrella will instantly make your back deck more welcoming and ready for a nice, grilled dinner outside.

I would also love to get a dining table set where you could add in your own cushions. That way you can customize it exactly to your liking based on what colors and/or patterns you want to go with!

umbrellaSolar Led Lighted Patio Umbrella // More Patio Umbrellas

And of course, having a grill is a must for this space because I love to do a lot of grilling. Once it starts warming up, I try to grill as many meals as I can!

Not only is grilling everything delicious, but it also helps prevent your house from heating up verses when you are cooking something inside in the oven.

So having a good quality grill is very essential for me to have on our back deck for sure!

grill4-Burner Propane Gas Grill // More Gas Grills

Fire Pit Area

I love sitting around our fire pit! It is the perfect place to entertain as well as make some delicious s’mores! The look to this fire pit is exactly what I was wanting too.

I like how it has a lid to it so you can cover it easily! It just has a sleek, modern feel to it which is perfect for this space.

fire pitSteel Wood Burning Fire Pit // More Fire Pits

I also love to put comfortable, but sturdy chairs in this area. I love the look of adirondack chairs and I think they look just perfect siting around our fire pit area. I also got them in black as well to pop against our house.

We have our fire pit area right to the side of our driveway so you can easily see this space from the road. Like every other outdoor space we have, I wanted it to be both practical and pretty!

outdoor chairsWood Folding Adirondack Chair Set // More Adirondack Chairs

We also had some extra room here and decided to put a smoker in the area as well. Which has been a great decision since we have enjoyed smoking some chicken wings here during the Summer too!

charcoal smokerGourmet Offset Charcoal Smoker and Grill // More Charcoal Grills

My vision for the future is to also put in a hot tub in this area too! How cool would that be?! Cause then, even when it is a little cooler outside, we can still enjoy the space!

I think it is always important to have dreams and plans for how you want to style spaces in the future, even if it isn’t realistic right now.

So there you have it! Those are all my top picks for styling an outdoor space! What are your must haves for styling outdoor spaces in your home? You can read all about how I styled my porch for Fall or Christmas in the past.

I plan on having a new post soon all about my Spring porch decor too. Be on the lookout for that soon and thanks for stopping by!

There are so many things I want to do to my backyard. Right now it’s sitting completely untouched and it’s drive by me nuts! It’s a pretty large space though, so it’s going to take some time and a bit of cash to do everything I want. Starting with creating a paved area with a fire pit off to one side, a nice gazebo with a sitting area and a huge covered outdoor table.

Just come across your blog and after reading this I’ve signed up for your newsletter. Great post! My partner and I have just moved into our first home together that has a garden, previously been in flats together etc. We’ve been doing a lot more work in the garden recently out of boredom and have actually really enjoyed the time we’ve spent out there. It’s coming together but as we’ve never had a garden to style before we were completely lost on where to even begin so thanks for the tips!

Plot twist: Riley’s biological mom is still part o Plot twist: Riley’s biological mom is still part of the family too! 😹🐾

As someone who deals with chronic lower back pain and everyday stress, I count down the days until my next appointment!

Sure, it’s not a permanent fix, but even a little relief can make a huge difference. I always leave feeling more relaxed, less tense, and ready to take on life again (or at least survive another work week 😜).

If you’ve ever struggled with chronic pain, muscle tension, or stress, you know how amazing that post-massage feeling is!

After all the money we’ve spent on raised garden beds, soil, plants, fertilizer, and supplies, this little pepper is basically worth its weight in gold! 😂 But honestly, there’s nothing more rewarding than walking outside and harvesting fresh vegetables from your own backyard garden.

And let me tell you… this pepper was DELICIOUS! 🙌 Now I’m anxiously waiting for our cucumbers, squash, and tomatoes to really start producing. There’s just something so exciting about watching a vegetable garden grow and finally getting to enjoy the fruits (and veggies!) of your labor.

Apparently, if I had actually read the product description, I would have known that. But who has time for details when you’re busy adding things to your cart? 😂

After a LOT of fluffing, shaping, and styling, though, these faux hanging ferns turned out so good! I love using artificial hanging baskets on our porch because they’re completely low-maintenance, stay green year-round, and don’t require me to climb a ladder every few days to water them. As someone who’s vertically challenged, that’s a major win. 🤣

But can we talk about how hard it is to make frien But can we talk about how hard it is to make friends in your 30s?! Is anyone else struggling with adult friendships, or is it just me?

Maybe it’s my socially awkward, overthinking brain. Maybe it’s because I spend 99% of my free time at home and have fully embraced my introvert era. Or maybe it’s the fact that every time I meet someone new, I replay the entire conversation in my head for the next 3-5 business days. 🤣

And while I’ve never been officially diagnosed as neurodivergent, let’s just say some of those traits hit a little too close to home. 🧠😂

So if you’re also navigating social anxiety, an expired social battery, awkward small talk, and the challenge of making friends as an adult... welcome. You’re my people.

POV: You survived your first full week back at wor POV: You survived your first full week back at work after endometriosis excision surgery… and this is what recovery really looks like. 😂

I officially made it through my first full week back to work after a month-long surgery leave, and whew… the post-op fatigue is NO joke.

Every evening has looked pretty much the same: clock out, soak my aching body in a scorching hot bath, grab my heating pad, put on my weighted eye mask, and immediately take a cat nap before I can even think about making dinner or doing anything around the house. 😴

I knew recovering from endometriosis excision surgery would take time, but I didn’t expect the exhaustion to hit this hard after returning to work. My body is definitely reminding me that healing isn’t always a straight line.

Right now, this little recovery routine is getting me through:
💛 Hot bath
💛 Heating pad on full blast
💛 Weighted eye mask (shoutout to @nodpodofficial)
💛 Emergency evening nap

Thankfully, it’s finally the weekend, and I can focus on resting and recharging before doing it all over again next week.

If you’ve had endometriosis excision surgery, how long did the fatigue last for you after returning to work? Please tell me this part doesn’t last forever! 😂👇

Whenever I have a bad day at work, I remind myself that I need that paycheck so my cats can stay home all day, nap in peace, eat snacks, and live their best spoiled-cat lives. 😂

This first week back at work has been ROUGH, y’all. I miss being home with my fur babies more than anything. Honestly, I think my true calling in life is being a stay-at-home cat mom. 🐾

But unfortunately, someone has to pay for the treats, toys, fancy food, and all the other necessities required to maintain this luxury cat lifestyle. And that someone is me. 😅

The funniest part? I don’t even think little Miss Riley misses me. As long as the food bowl stays full and the treats keep coming, she’s perfectly content living her best life while I’m out here working my butt off. 🤣

Anyone else with a chronic illness immediately Goo Anyone else with a chronic illness immediately Google every possible side effect before starting a new medication? Because I swear if there’s a rare reaction listed, somehow I’m the lucky winner. 🤣

Being chronically ill means I’ve tried my fair share of medications over the years, and my body always seems to have a mind of its own. If a medicine is supposed to make people sleepy, I’ll be wide awake all night. If there’s a tiny chance of an adverse reaction, somehow I’m usually that tiny percentage. 😅

So starting a new medication is always a little nerve-wracking for me. Part of me is hopeful it’ll finally provide some relief, and the other part is preparing for whatever random side effect my body decides to throw my way.

Here’s hoping this one actually helps my symptoms without adding a whole new list of problems. 🤞😂

There’s just something about decorating with old red, white, and blue treasures that makes a home feel extra cozy for summer. I love styling my dining room shelves with vintage Americana pieces, antique finds, and patriotic decor that can stay up from Memorial Day all the way through the Fourth of July and beyond!

POV: being on surgery recovery leave for a month t POV: being on surgery recovery leave for a month turned me into a full-time homebody 🤣

Honestly, staying home healing after surgery has taught me one thing… I never want to leave my house again 😂 Being cozy at home with my cats, resting, binge watching shows, and avoiding the outside world has been absolutely glorious. I truly understand the “stay at home cat mom” lifestyle now lol.

At this point, I have everything I need right here at home. Peace, comfy clothes, snacks, my pets, and zero social obligations 🤣 Meanwhile, every time I actually leave the house, I come back completely exhausted.

So the fact that I have to go back to work today after a month of recovery is honestly going to be SUCH a rough adjustment 😅 I’m not mentally prepared to rejoin society yet lol. Anyone else secretly love being home way too much?!

Honestly, I’ve been struggling with the thought of Honestly, I’ve been struggling with the thought of going back to work while still recovering from surgery. Between the physical healing and the emotional side of post-surgery recovery, I’ve been feeling pretty down lately. So this comedy date night ended up being exactly what I needed.

We bought tickets to see @johnbcrist months ago, long before I had any idea I’d be spending a month on surgery leave. Turns out the timing couldn’t have been more perfect. This was our third time seeing him live, and he absolutely delivered. I laughed so hard that for a couple of hours, I completely forgot about returning to work, ongoing recovery, and all the stress waiting for me next week. 🤣

Before the show, we had dinner at @redgingerasianbistro and finished the night with dessert at @timesbarandcoffee which made the whole evening even better. Good food, lots of laughs, and quality time with my husband was exactly the distraction I needed.

Sometimes healing isn’t just about physical recovery. Sometimes it’s about finding little moments that remind you how good it feels to laugh again. ❤️

Not me having to put on my sunglasses every time I Not me having to put on my sunglasses every time I have to chop onions because my eyes tear up so bad… 🤣

Ever since I had LASIK surgery a few years ago, chopping onions has been brutal on my eyes. I’m talking instant tears the second I start cutting them 😂 Apparently my eyes became extra sensitive afterward, and honestly it’s been a struggle ever since.

But then I heard about the “wear sunglasses while chopping onions” hack and y’all… why does it actually work?! 😅 So now anytime my hubby isn’t home to take over onion duty, you can catch me in the kitchen wearing sunglasses indoors looking ridiculous but tear-free 😎

If you’ve ever wondered how to stop crying while cutting onions, consider this your sign to try the sunglasses trick! It may look silly, but it seriously helps block those onion fumes from hitting your eyes 👏

Now I need to know… does anyone else have weird kitchen hacks like this? 😂 #kitchenhacks #cookinghacks #onionhack #cookinghack #onions
